6. The Desert’s early morning
silence is broken by the
sounds of 40 rumbling
engines. Organized by an
off duty California Highway
Patrol officer, blockades
give us free reign to open
CALIFORNIA HIGH DESERT up and take the road.
8. Every pit stop is an
QUARTZSITE, AZ GAS STOP opportunity to stretch, meet
the rest of the crew and
show off cars. By the time
we reach Quartzite we are
almost 100 Camaro’s deep.
10. Anticipation fills the air as vendors
SETTING UP VENDOR ROW begin their early morning setup. In
less than two hours, 1,000 fans and
500 Camaros will descend on Firebird
International Raceway to take in the
sites and sounds of Camaro culture.
13. The sweltering 100-degree
heat takes its toll on any
racing tire. This rubber-
ladened ripple strip is
proof of just how hot
the Arizona sun can be.
16. Proven Wicked’s owner,
Shane Wagner, patiently
looks on as he waits to take
his 568-HP pro-charged
SS on its first timed run
through the autocross.
17. Winner of the second annual Camaro5
modified autocross, Rob Byrd takes a
moment to enjoy his victory. He raced
his wife’s 2011,equipped with Hotchkis,
Nitto, and BBS to a victory time of 55:98.
20. Volunteers are the heart
and soul of this event,
from running the time
clocks to handing out
water bottles to thirsty
event goers. Without
them the weekend would
have been impossible.
22. THE WEDDING
In front of a cheering crowd
of spectators, Lisa Wilhelm
and Thomas Hendrix
exchange their wedding
vows. The newlyweds met
at a Camaro convention,
and it was love at first
suspension package.
30. The men from gettorq.
com hoist up their newest
family addition as they
change out the wheels and
tires in preparation for the
vendor-row showcase.
34. A fan favorite, the 855-HP
Lingenfelter supercharged
LS9 waits at the staging
line. With a history of
running deep 9’s in the
quarter mile, this car
promises to entertain the
PURPOSE-BUILT DRAGSTER fans in the bleachers.
35. AUTOCROSS TIMING AND SCORING
A jack-of-all-trades, John
Hotchkis takes a minute
out of his racing day to call
out the times and scores
of his fellow autocrossers.
40. A household name in the racing community,
Hotchkis has a reputation for building the
highest quality parts. Their F-11 Camaro, fitted
with a Magnus supercharger, JBA exhaust and a
full suspension package, can silence any skeptic.
44. Sun glints off the windshield
of this freshly detailed 2012
ZL1. Debuting to the public
for the first time, the ZL1 is
the pinnacle of performance
within the Camaro family.

45. Nothing draws crowds
better than loud engines
and smoke clouds and
formula D cars do just
that. Piloted by Conrad
Grunewald, the Hankook
Camaro SS closes out the
two day event with a series
of spectacular drifts.
