Business Process Services (BPS) in South
Africa, a Brave New World
To some BusinessProcessServicesmaysoundlike yetanotherconvolutedandostentatiouslabel

or identity.Quite the contrary.
BusinessProcessServicesor Outsourcing,whenitdelivers,hasthe potential togenuinelylower
administrativeandoperatingcosts,more quicklyprovidenew services,improve customersatisfaction,
and enhance focusoncore businessactivities.Verysimply, theseare the people that allow business
people tofocusontheircore businesswhilstthe likesof humanresources,finance,accounting,contact

Withoutgettingboggeddownindetail,it'ssufficienttosaythatthere are manydivisionsof BPS:there's

Africancall centre industry hasgrownby approximately8% peryearsince 2003 and itdirectlyemploys
about54 000 people,contributing0.92% to SouthAfrica'sgrossdomesticproduct.Dwarf size compared
