Gold prices have lost more than 2% in this week even after receiving good news throughout in the form of retail sales(march) rising by 1.6%, business inventories were also up by 0.5% for February and consumer sentiment for april came at 69.5, the precious metal seemed to continue its upmove but SEC played spoil sport.Silver the poorer cousin of gold also fell heavily and closed at USD 17.71 after recovering from a low of 17.60. the dollar index jumped 0.4% and trading near 81. Crude june contract fell earlier in the week but touched its 18 month high of USD 87.23/barrel but retreated sharply from the highs and ended the week at USD 84.525/barrel. Copper also collapsed on Friday, with prices in New York briefly breaking down below the $3.50-per-lb level, as investors shunned risk and sought safety in the U.S. dollar after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission charged Goldman Sachs with fraud. www.capitalheight.com
