The IAEA nuclear applications laboratories in Seibersdorf, Austria have grown significantly since opening in 1962 to support over 160 member states. Originally consisting of one small laboratory, the facilities now cover 21,000 square meters and include eight specialized laboratories. The laboratories provide training to hundreds of scientists annually and work to develop new technologies in areas like food security, health, and environment. Currently, the laboratories are undergoing renovations through the ReNuAL project to modernize facilities and ensure they can continue to effectively support member states' needs.
