This document discusses Christy Michaud's efforts to plant milkweed to support monarch butterfly populations. It includes photos documenting monarch caterpillars eating milkweed, forming chrysalises, and emerging as adult butterflies. The final generation of butterflies, called the migration generation, travels over 3,000 miles to Mexico for the winter and it will take their great-grandchildren three generations to return to Michaud's garden the following year. The monarch population decline is due to loss of habitat and milkweed in both Mexico and North America.
