Choose your web address

During the sign up process, you choose the web
address where you and your visitors will access
your store. You aren't able to change this later.
Keep your web address short, easy to spell, and
easy to remember.
Eg: myshop.shopify.com

Choose your layout
Building a store with shopify


You choose your shop's layout during the sign-
up process. However, your layout can be
changed later. There are currently nine layouts
to choose from, and they all look very
professional and clean.

Create Products Collections
Building a store with shopify


Product collections determine how your
products are organized and displayed in your
store.
Don't worry about not adding any products to
your store yet: you first need to create the
categories your products will fall under.

Add products to your store by clicking on the
"Products" link and then on the "Add a new
product" link. Don't worry about resizing your
product's images: Shopify does that for you. If
you need to create variations of your products
(i.e. different colors or sizes), check the box next
to "This product's variants have multiple
options that distinguish them."

Organize your products into collections by
clicking on the "Products" link and then on the
each individual product's page. On the right
side of the page, choose which collections your
product should belong to. The Frontpage
collection is made up of the products that are
shown on your store's homepage.

Building a store with shopify


The homepage is the most important page of
your website and should tell your visitors what
types of products you're selling and showcase
your store's popular products. Fill out your
homepage content by clicking on the "Blogs &
Pages" link and then on the "Welcome to my
Shopify store” link.

Your About Us page can help form a
relationship with your customers by letting
them put a name and face to your business. Fill
out your About Us page by clicking on the

Supporting pages and a blog can add value to
your store by allowing your customers to stay
upto-date with your latest product offerings.

Create main navigation links
Building a store with shopify


Navigation is how visitors get around your site.
Have links to your product collections in your
main navigation to increase their visibility and
make them easier to access. Create main
navigation links for your product collections by
clicking on the "Navigation" link and then the
"Add Link" link in the Main Menu section of the
page. Give the link a name and link it to one of
your product collections.

Select your regions and taxes

Shopify sets up default taxes for your country.
To change your regions or taxes, click on the
“Preferences” link and then on the “Regions
and Taxes” link. You can change the tax
percentage of a region or the tax percentage of
a state in a region.

Change your shipping prices.
Building a store with shopify


Shopify sets up default shipping prices for your
country. To change your shipping prices, click on
the “Preferences” link and then on the
“Shipping” link. You setup shipping prices based
on the weight or price of orders and the
location you’re shipping them to.

Setup Payment Processor
Building a store with shopify


You need to setup a payment processor to
process your store’s orders. Select a payment
processor by clicking on the “Preferences” link
and then on the “Checkout & Payment” link.
Choose whether you want to use PayPal,
Google Checkout, a credit card gateway, or a
custom payment method as a way to accept
payments

Customize your header and logo
Building a store with shopify


Customize your header and logo to personalize
your online store. Add a logo to your store by
copying it into your theme's ‘Assets' folder.
Open up your theme and delete the following
code: Replace the code you just deleted with
the following code: StoreLogo.gif is the image
file name of your logo. If your logo has a
different name, rename your file as
StoreLogo.gif. Save your theme

If you would like to change the layout of your
store, go to the ‘Assets' tab and then the
‘Themes Gallery.' Find the layout you want to
use for your store, and click on the "Update my
templates to use this theme" link.

Change your color scheme.
Building a store with shopify


If you would like to change the color scheme of
your store, go to the ‘Assets' tab and then the
‘Theme Editor.' You can change the color
scheme by either typing in the hexadecimal
color code or by clicking on the color box and
moving your cursor to the color you want.
