Buddhism teaches that reality is impermanent and interdependent. Through meditation, the Buddha realized that suffering is caused by craving and attachment to changing things. He taught that enlightenment and liberation from suffering can be achieved by following the Eightfold Path of right view, speech, action, and meditation to attain Nirvana. The Buddha presented his core teachings of the Four Noble Truths and concept of anatta or no-self in his first three sermons, known as Setting in Motion the Wheel of Dharma, Anatta-lakkhana-sutta on not-self, and the Fire Sermon on detachment from senses.
