The Husky Lines research project takes a mixed methods approach to identifying barriers to public transit usage for the student population of the Tacoma campus of the University of Washington. The first step was to illuminate existing public transit deserts and simultaneously implement a student survey to measure student perceptions of transit use. Based on these findings, the team is recommending new bus stops and bus lines to better serve the student population in an effort to increase usage of public transportation by the students. Taking this approach a step further, this specific study aims to collect perceptions of daily commute and actual daily commute patterns. A mobile application, tapping into built-in sensors, measures actual commute patterns and is augmented with a traditional travel diary to measure perception of commutes. Finally, this study provides an example of how mobile technology can be used to support transportation surveys.

However security of the cloud is another aspect mission owners need to consider in order move to commercial cloud.
ARL has experience in securing applications on AWS as well protecting the cloud environment from potential threats. ARL has successfully provided CSSP support for mission owners looking to leverage AWS as well as using AWS security tools to secure their environment. Attendees will learn best practices on how to successfully secure their environment both inside and outside AWS. ARL will discuss the need to leverage AWS capabilities as data sources to strengthen operations. ARL will also discuss how cloud changed their security posture.

The main problem with the state of the art in the semantic search domain is the lack of comprehensive evaluations. There exist only a few efforts to evaluate semantic search tools and to compare the results with other evaluations of their kind.
In this paper, we present a systematic approach for testing and benchmarking semantic search tools that was developed within the SEALS project. Unlike other semantic web evaluations our methodology tests search tools both automatically and interactively with a human user in the loop. This allows us to test not only functional performance measures, such as precision and recall, but also usability issues, such as ease of use and comprehensibility of the query language.
The paper describes the evaluation goals and assumptions; the criteria and metrics; the type of experiments we will conduct as well as the datasets required to conduct the evaluation in the context of the SEALS initiative. To our knowledge it is the first effort to present a comprehensive evaluation methodology for Semantic Web search tools.

In this paper, we present a systematic approach for testing and benchmarking semantic search tools that was developed within the SEALS project. Unlike other semantic web evaluations our methodology tests search tools both automatically and interactively with a human user in the loop. This allows us to test not only functional performance measures, such as precision and recall, but also usability issues, such as ease of use and comprehensibility of the query language.
The paper describes the evaluation goals and assumptions; the criteria and metrics; the type of experiments we will conduct as well as the datasets required to conduct the evaluation in the context of the SEALS initiative. To our knowledge it is the first effort to present a comprehensive evaluation methodology for Semantic Web search tools.

Facing Open Banking regulation, rapidly increasing transaction volumes and increasing customer expectations, Nationwide took the decision to take load off their back-end systems through real-time streaming of data changes into Kafka. Hear about how Nationwide started their journey with Kafka, from their initial use case of creating a real-time data cache using Change Data Capture, Kafka and Microservices to how Kafka allowed them to build a stream processing backbone used to reengineer the entire banking experience including online banking, payment processing and mortgage applications. See a working demo of the system and what happens to the system when the underlying infrastructure breaks. Technologies covered include: Change Data Capture, Kafka (Avro, partitioning and replication) and using KSQL and Kafka Streams Framework to join topics and process data.
