Eduardo and Camila are two young Cubans, living in a bus-
tling neighborhood in Havana. Their social backgrounds
couldn’t be more diverse. Eduardo is a musician and Ca-
mila just graduated from college. Nevertheless, they share
a deep and innocent love, until Eduardo asked Camila to
marry him.
With joy in her heart, her impulsive reaction is to say Yes.
But her family, deeply concerned with Eduardo’s social
standing, pressures her to reconsider. Promptly they ar-
range for her to graduate within her studies in Madrid.
At first, Camila sees this experience as an opportunity for
her personal growth, and she tries to convince Eduardo
that three years apart will be a short wait for their never
ending love. Saddened he accepts her departure and, as
the months passes by, he becomes more and more rest-
less about not hearing from her. What he doesn’t know is
that Camila’s family is holding back her love letters for him.
María, Eduardo’s secret admirer for years, sees his situa-
tion as a fortunate opportunity to finally be able to seduce
him. Lonely and with his lost hope to hear from Camila ever
again, he finds an unsatisfying comfort in María for a short
time. Still longing for his lost love, he cuts himself off from
Maria and social life and seeks fulfillment in his work.
The Story
However, a year later, Camila returns to Havana to find
that Eduardo is avoiding any contact with her. Desper-
ately she tries to get in touch with him and finds him
eventually at his work place. He faults her for a lack of
sincerity to their love. At this point, they discover that
Camilas family is held responsible in keeping back her
letters.
After all, they decide to take their destiny in their own
hand and promise each other, to only believe in one an-
other. Having conquered all these hurdles, Eduardo and
Camila start a new life together in their neighborhood,
celebrating their eternal love and passion – a triumph
over social and circumstantial barriers.
