Bringing instruction to the talent that you may sign in the future
1. Bringing instruction to the talent that you may sign in the future-
July 10, 2015
When instructing courses in the entertainment industry, I would like to say that I would
have them stand up and do cold readings in front of the whole room, and a book report on the
history of the arts each day and it be that simple. However, I am aware of the fact that this would
not work out each day and keep everyone on track. I would attempt to look at each
actor/actress/model and then go from there. This is due to the fact that each one of them will
need something different.
I feel that in the entertainment instructor field, you must become the go to for what
should I eat and not eat, work out advice, work out buddy, and one that can see the problem; and
share the beauty secret advice in a manner that is not only not offensive, but also in a manner that
is more professional than others. One because I am instructing in a field that I am very passionate
about, and two because it is just the way the big cats in New York, and California have always
preferred that all the wild Hollywood want to be’s would have acted all along-yes eighty babies,
I am talking about OUR parents. To say the very least and be ‘brutally honest’, I feel that the real
talent skipped 10 years, and then some, and that “it” is still being missed by a whole generation
of real world rebels; and technology buffs looking for the next best thing, those with Hollywood
history allergies, and a whole lot of other personal observation opinions that I could pull out of
an for example bag.
If I were to take the instructor position to the next level, and create fully individualized
lesson plans for my students by creating projects- and updated projects at that- I would first
design my own website for these individuals. I would then get permission from a few key
professors, whom have published textbooks that I am familiar with, and request that I use a few
examples to show attendees what exactly that text means. This website would be part of the
required materials, somewhat of a textbook walk through mixed with a let’s all do this type of
meet up activity, and one that turns the textbook into an interactive lecture; and at the same time
also present an almost group, or panel like audition process for the attendees looking to jump in,
and gain experience by auditioning for a few of the current opportunities in the entertainment
industry.
Furthermore; to be exact I was actually asked, what are you doing trying to build super
awkward freak-of- the night entrepreneurs, and your aim would then become to get lucky
somehow by getting a few them really noticed in the entertainment industry? So, I will answer
yes, and no. In order to be in the entertainment industry you have to be an entrepreneur, and the
reason for this is because you have to manage yourself. Regardless of which one you are: model,
actor, actress, dancer; or singer you must have control.
Make that a whole lot of self-control, and you have to be wise about current events, and
wise about money; and wise about a whole lot of other professions as well. Believe me! As you
can see on my very long job history log, I have had 29 jobs in the traditional workforce alone
during my 28 years of life. Most think that this is a very bad example of work ethic.
2. I love it when my parents get on to me about this, it cracks me up. Inside I have always
had to smile, laugh, and think to myself you work from 9 to 5 in a job that you hate. Of course
you would never understand why I do the things I do. Yet, I do not want them to become so good
at being an entrepreneur that they give up on their career in the entertainment world.
