Spirit River Lodge Pre-Award Phase - Community Engagement Session #2TraceyEvans25
During the Pre-Award phase, the consultant team will gather stakeholder input to understand the requirements for a new facility to replace the existing Pleasant View Lodge in Spirit River.
The intent for each of the community engagement sessions is to answer the big question: How does the built environment promote healthy living and sustainable communities? The answers to all of the questions we will ask during theses sessions will drive our design decisions to develop program requirements and the schematic design for the new lodge. We started with the site and common lodge amenities, and then we will work our way inward to the neighbourhoods and resident suites. Our goals for the community engagement sessions are to develop an understanding of the social and cultural context of Spirit River and the surrounding community and to empower the community to shape the project vision.
Session #1 Topic:
On February 4, during the second community engagement session for the pre-award phase for the Spirit River Lodge project, we talked about the important design principles to consider through all of the community engagement sessions, and then we dived into the main discussion; how does the built environment promote healthy living and sustainable communities as it relates to neighbourhoods and the resident suites in the lodge. The goal for this session was to gather the community’s input on what all the important design features are for the new lodge.
Thank you to everyone who participated! We look forward to hosting you all again on February 11, 2021 where we will be providing a summary of all the community input we have received over the last 2 weeks.

Our Hospice Programs
Pre-Hospice Care Program
When a decision to enter a hospice program is not yet acceptable to the patient or caregivers facing a life-
limiting illness, we will voluntarily coordinate a pre-hospice palliative management program supervised by our
medical directors until such a time when transitioning to hospice becomes desirable.
Home Based Program
Most patients facing a life-limiting illness qualify and will prefer to receive hospice services in the privacy and
comfort of familiar surroundings at home. Hospice care is a service that transcends locations and can be
provided at any site that meets the necessary criteria set by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services,
including a private home setting.
Intravenous Therapy Program
When pain control can no longer be achieved effectively with oral and topical medications, we can provide
intravenous medications using micro-pumps and other devices programmed to deliver adjustable doses to
achieve comfort goals. Our staff will provide equipment, training and assistance to reliable caregivers to help
provide hospital-quality pain management at home.
Inpatient Hospice Program
When hospice care at home is no longer an option due to the severity and acuity of symptoms, or when there
is a caregiver breakdown situation, we provide and coordinate with insurance carriers transition to our
inpatient hospice programs.
Our Hospice Team
Our interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses,
counselors, and other medical professionals are
trained to provide physical, emotional social and
spiritual support to patients and their families.
Hospice Associates founding partners bring to
our organization more than 40 years of
combined experience in hospice and palliative
care to lead and guide our patient management
teams.
