This study examined the relationship between articulation rate, nonword repetition accuracy, and vocabulary size in 34 Spanish-English bilingual kindergarteners. The main findings were: 1) Articulation rate during the nonword repetition task did not correlate significantly with vocabulary size or nonword repetition accuracy. 2) Nonword repetition accuracy correlated concurrently with English vocabulary size at pre- and post-testing, but not with Spanish vocabulary size. 3) Both English and Spanish vocabulary predicted nonword repetition accuracy at the end of the school year, suggesting vocabulary in either language supports performance on nonword repetition tasks.
