acres encompass a whopping 18 trails: four
beginner, five intermediate, six advanced,
and three terrain parks. All these trails
could sound like a lot of walking. Don›t fret;
these trails are conveniently accessible by
16 lifts: one conveyor, four surface tows,
two double, seven triple, and two quad.
BMBW offers terrain for beginners up to
the advanced skier and snowboarder. Fans
of BMBW are going nuts for their state-
of-the-art Polar Blast tubing area located
at Brandywine. “Our Polar Blast is an
affordable and fun outing for families, but
it also has the thrill to keep the daredevil
entertained,” explains Mackle. Spanning
the length of three football fields, the Polar
Blast is a great experience for everyone
of any age. When weather conditions are
prime, BMBW can architect “extreme”
tubing lanes which offer more vertical
and more speed with varying dips and
bumps. Guests can warm up and grab some
food in the Polar Blast Lodge or enjoy a
beverage around a fire pit.
Polar Blast will be open late on Fridays
and Saturdays for late-night tubing
under the lights.  Ticket specials will start
at 8 p.m. and tubing will go until 1a.m.
Returning this year is the fourth annual
100.7 WMMS Alan Cox Show Polar Blast
Battle (Jan. 30, 2015).  The popular disc
jockey team of Alan, Erika, and Bill, along
with our very own “Beary White” (our polar
bear mascot), will be building teams to race
head-to-head for great prizes and bragging
rights.  Everyone is invited for a fun night
filled with tubing, drink specials and music.
If by some slim chance the 2014-2015
snow season turns out a little light, BMBW
and Polar Blast Snow Tubing have
100-percent snow-making capabilities. This
means the property can make snow when
it is cold and ensure it’s a white winter all
season long. In fact, their snow-making
equipment has been upgraded for the
2014-2015 season so no one will ever be
disappointed.
Both properties have a wide range of
amenities, such as full-service bar, food and
beverage areas and room to relax between
runs. Both bars offer an extensive draft
beer list wrapped in a warm and inviting
atmosphere. Guests can head to the food
service area to enjoy pizza, fried food, fresh
sandwiches, drinks, candy, chips, soups and
more.  The Brandywine cafeteria offers a
made-to-order burrito bar.
Late-night skiing will
take place again this
year at Brandywine.
The slopes are
open Friday and
Saturday until
1 a.m. and the
discounts start
at 8 p.m.  College ID
Night is Friday: Show

see the return of Ladies’ Night
at Brandywine.  Women will be
able to purchase a Snow Pass

only $1. BMBW has
everything you need to
get out and enjoy the
winter season.
Peak
Resorts
recently acquired Alpine Valley. Located
right here in Chesterland, Alpine Valley has
a 260-foot vertical, seven trails, and five
lifts.  Peak Resorts has invested around
$2.5 million upgrading the property with a
new ski-able terrain, new lifts, lift upgrades,
and a new snow-tubing facility.  Season
passes purchased from Alpine Valley are
valid at Boston Mills and Brandywine and
vice versa.
Understanding that the weather is very
unpredictable here in Northeast Ohio,
BMBW encourages
everyone to follow

Coming off the heels of
a record-breaking 2013 snow season,
Northeast Ohio is no stranger to the
wintry white stuff. In fact, many view our
extensive snowfall as an opportunity to
revel in it. Enter Boston Mills Brandywine
Ski Areas (BMBW). Almost 50 years ago,
Boston Mills and Brandywine operated
as two separate ski areas, but in the early
1990’s Brandywine was acquired by the
owners of Boston Mills. Then in 2002, the
two properties were purchased by Missouri-
based Peak Resorts. “Peak Resorts operates
a total of 13 ski resorts sprinkled throughout
the Midwest
and Northeast
United States,”
says Steve
Mackle, product
manager for
BMBW.
Snow
enthusiasts and
families, alike,
realize the benefit
of location,
location and
location. “There
are not many
ski areas in the
country that are located this close to this
many large cities.  We are within 30 minutes
from both Cleveland and Akron.  This means
our guests can ski, snowboard, and tube
after school and work and still make it home
with plenty of time to get ready for their
next busy day,” says Mackle.
Being centrally located also allows BMBW
to cater to the local schools, clubs and
churches. The property offers discounted
programs for these groups, including a
school club program. This program allows
busloads of students to learn how to ski
and snowboard. “This program has been so
successful over the years that I am sure you
know at least one person who can say they
learned to ski at BMBW through their school
club program,” says Mackle.
The key to success for BMBW has been to
create a family-friendly atmosphere while
pushing the thrill factor to the max. The
property has a vertical drop of 264 feet
with just over 88 ski-able acres. Those 88
