Introduction
Murcian bowling and the “caliche” are both
tipical murcian games played since a very
long time ago.
It is similar to american bowling but is
played outside and the bowlling pins are
diferent.
The materials
O The ball.
O The Bowling pin.
O The pitch.
Ball
The ball size is 11cm of diameter and it
weights 900 to 1100g.
Bowling pin
It is played with 6 to 9 bowling pin.
The bowling pins size is between 73 to 75
cm height. The base is circular and it is
made by wood.
Pitch
The pitch is between 34 and 38 X 4 to 5 m
and is made of rammed ground.
Objective
The objective of this game is to tear down
as much bowling pins as posible.
How to play?
Each match consists of 30 “manos”.
Each “mano” lasts 6 throwings, (3 per team).
Its divided in two periods of 15 “manos” with a 15
minutes break in between.
If there´s a tie the teams play 6 “manos” more.
At the end of every “mano” we write the scores.
When does the match starts ?
The match begins with the “manillas”
throwing a coin to decide wich team starts
the match and places the bowling pins.
Most commons plays
The most commons plays are:
O “A vueltas” :The throwing is 18m away
from the bowling pins.
O “A copas”: The throwing is 8 to 10m from
the bowling pins.
Score
As we said, at the end of every “mano” we
write the scores.
You win as much points as the team has
tear down. But, if you strike you have to add
to your score 10 points more.
