When a manifesto is released, people tend to have lots of hopes from it. On 9th April, BJP
(Bhartiya Janata Party) released a manifesto ahead of elections commencing from April 11.
Let us glanceinto the proposals made in the manifesto which is believed to be farmer-friendly
and nation’s development-oriented.
Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi presented India with his party's manifesto which is also
called the “Sankalp Patra”. The Sankalp Patra was released in New Delhi and is a document
which promises good governance, security and as well as the prosperity of the country. BJP,
calls it a pledge or the resolution document and claims it to be different from the Manifestos

In the august gathering, the BJP dignitaries pronounced that India is now indeed a "Maha-
Shakti". BJP also went on to mention that during the period of the UPA government, i.e.,
between 2004 and 2014, how was India and how it is now! India is now among the top six
economies. They are proud the way PM Narendra Modi Ji has done justice and uplifted every
sector of the society, may that be by providing cooking gas connections in the rural areas, or
the making the reach of housing and affordable health care to all, or may it be the welfare
schemes provided to the farmers. They are evident on how while bringing the economy of
the country back on track, Sri. Narendra Modi, in his serving period, has shown the world how
can be a scam-free country run! They also took the privilege to talk about how the source of
terrorism is pulled out with a message to the world that no one can ever play around with the
borders and the security of the country. The manifesto has a separate section which explains
“75 Milestones for India @ 75”. Here, BJP presents its 75 goals on the occasion, wherein the
BJP through its manifesto, exhibits confidence and faith in fulfilling the goals for the
betterment of the country and every Indian. There is an inclusion of a motivational letter
written by Sri Narendra Modi in the manifesto, it is addressedto the 130 Crores Indians saying
that he and his party is prepared to be dedicated till 2047 when India will celebrate its
centenary Independence Day.
Sri Chandrakant Patil, being an Agriculture minister of Maharashtra State, shows his interest
in the pledges taken to nurture his serving area. Though the opposition often takes jibes over
the jobs and agrarian distress, BJP takes a step ahead and makes a promise through its
manifesto. The manifesto tends to promise the implementation of piped water for every
2. household by the year 2024. It expeditiously aims to take forward the linking of the rivers
from different parts of the country and ensuring a good solution to drinking water and
irrigation-related problems by launching 'Jal Jivan Mission' with 'Nal se Jal' special
programme, to eradicate water scarcity problems. The manifesto also highlights on Cleaning
the river Ganga under ‘Swachh Ganga’, this can be a great help for agriculture too.
One of the prominent sankalps is to support the farmers by providing Interest-free Kisan
credit-card loans. The manifesto also proclaims to launch a pension scheme dedicated to all
small and marginal farmers in the country, this is to ensure social security to the farmers after
attaining the age of 60 years. The BJP now has already launched an initiative of handing out
of Rs 6,000 to farmers per annum.
The ruling party is said to have planned to build a 60,000 km long national highway,
connecting the villages, along with rural roads. operationalizing the 100 new airports,
modernising 400 railway stations and covering 50 cities with metro networks allaround is also
a major promise to watch out for.
The manifesto also speaks about employment. It aims at creating numerous opportunities for
Youth and hence providing stability to the 22 major 'Champion Sectors' that are identified as
the main drivers of the Indian economy. Lack of job opportunities has been on target by the
opposition for long. Youth can increase employment in the potential sectors, and it aims at
encouraging the spirit of entrepreneurship by providing them collateral-free credits.
Some highlights of the manifesto are:
• Strengthening the armed forces by purchasing the best defence equipment. No or zero
tolerance for terrorism. Also, priorities high on Soldiers welfare combating infiltration.
• Implementation of NRC (National Registerof Citizens),throughout India. Implementation
of the Citizenship Amendment Bill for protecting religious minority communities and
support the North-eastern states.
• Technology to be adopted in various sectors, digitization, and converting cities to Smart
cities using technology is of great priority.
• The scrapping of Article 370 (a special status to Jammu and Kashmir) and Article 35A or
the law which pronounces that no outsider can own the property in Jammu and Kashmir
State.
• In the next five years, it says, is determined to lower the number of families living below
the poverty line to a single digit.
• The Ram temple is aimed to be built as soon as possible and endeavour to secure the
constitution on the issue related to faith and belief related with respect to Sabarimala.
• To set up a medical college or a post-graduate medical college in every district, with
public or private participation.
• To establish a University of Foreign Policy.
• Creating a separate fisheries department under 'Matsya Sampada Yojana'.
We can say that the manifesto looks promising and its implementation is something that
every citizen would want to watch out for. This election is definitely a game changer for the
3. country. Indians will surely vote with lots of hopes and expectations in them with a thought
the upcoming leader will definitely lead India to New Highs.
