The IT Project that was completed earlier in the semester involved only the implementation phase of
deploying IT resources to a new building. This assignment goes beyond the earlier project to look at
the project from the analysis of the IT needs through the evaluation of the IT project.
Background: The university plans to acquire additional facilities in the future. The state notifies the
university’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) when legislation approves the acquisition of new facilities
(the actual construction of the facility is outside the scope of this assignment).
The CEO notifies the Chief Operations Officer (COO) who acts as the project sponsor and approves the
opening of the facility. The COO identifies the administrative and academic departments (to include
the IT department) that will occupy the facility. The COO and each department then assign a
representative to work on the project team and represent their interests. The IT department may
assign multiple members to represent specialized areas involved in the project.
The COO then tasks the Project Manager to begin the analysis phase to determine the occupant’s IT
requirements and specifications. The scope of the project includes analyzing, designing, developing,
implementing, and evaluating the IT requirements of the new facility.
The Project Manager works with each department and the IT department to document all their IT
requirements and design/develop the best solution. Once completed, a final IT budget is established,
and the project sponsor approves any changes to cost, schedule, quality and scope.
The typical order of execution includes 1) analyzing and documenting requirements; 2) design and
develop the best solution; 3) review and signoff by the departments who will occupy the facility; 4)
approval of the budget and project management plan by the COO; 5) execution/implementation of the
project; and 6) an after-action evaluation of the project.
The major milestones (and only the milestones) from the earlier IT Project Plan will be incorporated
into the Project Management Plan schedule. One significant difference here is that the earlier IT
Project Plan might contain separate milestones for each area of the facility (i.e. “offices completed”,
“admin areas completed”, etc.) but, since the layout of a new facility is dynamic, the milestone can be
consolidated. Additional milestones for the analysis, design, development and evaluation must also be
included in the Project Management Plan schedule.

In this second unit we have discussed some of the main qualitative methods of research in Psychology, focusing on how these methods open new and critical possibilities regarding a more in-depth inquiry that pays attention to constructivist, anthropological, phenomenological, discursive and other "alternative" elements (different from mainstream psychology and strict quantitative methods) in specific situations of daily life. Bearing this in mind:
Discuss the importance of these qualitative approaches of inquiry in building and sustaining a "critical psychology" that is interested in understanding how:
1) knowledge is produced, used and appropriated (depending on the different functions of knowledge and its contexts, including psychology) from a constructivist view that questions the fallacy of objectivity (or the "world as given")
2) experience is framed and signified (depending on the social, cultural and particular context of the group or individual), which critically questions the fallacy of the centrality of the individual.
3) the underlying ideologies, discourses and relations of power oppress, stigmatize or alienate certain sections of society, which assumes the importance of studying the uses of language and knowledge (which are not neutral or "objective").

Team Project Guidelines
Objective
This capstone course concludes with a research Team Project that starts during the first week and continues throughout the duration of the class. It culminates with the submission of a formal team report and an oral presentation by each team during Week 7, and Peer Reviews in Week 8.
Each team will identify and explore an emerging technology. This will be a technology that may already exist, but is drawing attention because of new applications, anticipated impacts or potential controversies. Examples could include:
· nanotechnology in manufacturing,
· genetically modified organisms,
· remote/robotic surgery, or
· wireless electricity.
The team will explore the technical, social, cultural, moral and ethical issues presented by the technology.
Guidelines:
Teams
All teams will be assigned at the start of the first week. The first deliverable is due on the Sunday of Week 1, so students must get organized and into the project immediately. Each team will select a Team Leader, who will be responsible for the coordination of the research and the submission of assignments. Team members will remain on the assigned team throughout the duration of the class (in the project world, project managers seldom have the opportunity to select their own team members!). It is highly recommended that each team develop its own Team Contract to clearly define expectations, strategies, and timelines.
Emphasis is placed on both individual contributions and the final product of teams. You will communicate with your team through team meetings (online) and team discussion threads. Team members who fail to participate in an assignment will not get points for that assignment.
With those parts of the Team Project where a group grade will be assigned, all team members must submit a copy of the team’s work. When an assignment is completed, the Team Leader will distribute the finished product to all team members, and each team member must submit this copy to the Dropbox,
The Task
The primary focus of the team is to research and assess the issues associated with a specific emerging technology. The team will produce a formal research paper in APA format, with each team member contributing 10 pages of text. The paper will provide the basis for a 20-minute team presentation.
The following Required Elements must be researched and included in the final project. What follows is a list only, and is in no way an outline:
· A brief description of the technology and an explanation of the associated science
· The historical development and context of the technology

· wireless electricity.
The team will explore the technical, social, cultural, moral and ethical issues presented by the technology.
Guidelines:
Teams
All teams will be assigned at the start of the first week. The first deliverable is due on the Sunday of Week 1, so students must get organized and into the project immediately. Each team will select a Team Leader, who will be responsible for the coordination of the research and the submission of assignments. Team members will remain on the assigned team throughout the duration of the class (in the project world, project managers seldom have the opportunity to select their own team members!). It is highly recommended that each team develop its own Team Contract to clearly define expectations, strategies, and timelines.
Emphasis is placed on both individual contributions and the final product of teams. You will communicate with your team through team meetings (online) and team discussion threads. Team members who fail to participate in an assignment will not get points for that assignment.
With those parts of the Team Project where a group grade will be assigned, all team members must submit a copy of the team’s work. When an assignment is completed, the Team Leader will distribute the finished product to all team members, and each team member must submit this copy to the Dropbox,
The Task
The primary focus of the team is to research and assess the issues associated with a specific emerging technology. The team will produce a formal research paper in APA format, with each team member contributing 10 pages of text. The paper will provide the basis for a 20-minute team presentation.
The following Required Elements must be researched and included in the final project. What follows is a list only, and is in no way an outline:
· A brief description of the technology and an explanation of the associated science
· The historical development and context of the technology
· Political and legal influences
· Economic questions and considerations
· Psychological considerations and sociological effects
· The technology in its cultural context, media influence
· Implications for the environment
· Moral and ethical implications

Two questions are shown to have deep connections: What are the functions of vision in animals? and How did human languages evolve? The answer given here is that the functions of vision need to be supported by richly structured internal languages (forms of representation used for acquiring, storing, manipulating, deriving and using information), from which it follows that internal languages must have evolved before languages for communication.

The account of the functions of vision mentions early AI vision, the impact of Marr and the even greater impact of Gibson, but argues that they did not recognize all the functions of vision, e.g. the uses of vision in making mathematical discoveries leading to Euclid's elements.

Biology 2 4th Quarter Final Project Structure and Function: An In-Depth Analysis on Physiology and Anatomy INTRODUCTION Biology 2 (Comparative Physiology and Anatomy) will discuss throughout the school year the different life processes and accompanying structures that made the understanding of life more interesting, and in some instances, more complex.
