Billy Elliot is about a young boy growing up in a mining town in England during a miners' strike in the 1980s. Billy discovers a passion for ballet despite coming from a family who expects him to box. He secretly takes ballet lessons from his teacher, Mrs. Wilkinson. Billy works hard and earns a spot at a prestigious ballet audition, but faces opposition from his family who do not approve of ballet.
