Bill Gates was born in 1955 in Seattle, Washington. He showed an early aptitude for computers, writing his first program in 8th grade. He enrolled at Harvard in 1973 and scored 1590/1600 on the SAT. In 1975, Gates contacted MITS about developing a BASIC interpreter for their platform. They formed a partnership called "Micro-Soft" which became the dominant provider of operating software. In 1985, Microsoft released the first version of Windows, capturing the majority of the operating system market share. Gates is also a renowned philanthropist, founding the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000, which aims to enhance global healthcare and reduce poverty.
