Anything new introduced in the religion of Islam that is not mentioned in the Qur'an or Sahih Hadees is considered an innovation or bidah. The Qur'an and Sahih Hadees are considered the primary sources in Islam and anything beyond them is seen as an unauthorized addition to the faith.
