This Tala Notation system introduced by Pt. Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande. The objective of said notation system was to protect and preserve the traditional compositions of music. He developed symbols for Sam, Matra, Tali-Khali, Vibhag etc, to define any Tala structure (swaroop) or its composition (bandish).
