In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Beware False Teachers
1. Our Theme for 2012:
Real Faith
A Study of James, 1-2 Peter
2. James 2:26
[26] For just as the body without
the spirit is dead, so also faith
without works is dead.
3. 1 Peter 1:7
[7] so that the proof of your faith,
being more precious than gold
which is perishable, even though
tested by fire, may be found to result
in praise and glory and honor at
the revelation of Jesus Christ;
4. 2 Peter 2:20
[20] For if, after they have escaped
the defilements of the world by
the knowledge of the Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ, they are again
entangled in them and are overcome,
the last state has become worse
for them than the first.
6. 2 Peter 2:1
[1] But false prophets also arose
among the people, just as there will
also be false teachers among you, who
will secretly introduce destructive
heresies, even denying the Master
who bought them, bringing swift
destruction upon themselves.
8. 2 Peter 2:18
[18] For speaking out arrogant
words of vanity they entice by
fleshly desires, by sensuality,
those who barely escape from
the ones who live in error,
9. 2 Peter 2:10
[10] and especially those who
indulge the flesh in its corrupt
desires and despise authority.
Daring, self-willed, they do not
tremble when they revile
angelic majesties,
10. 2 Peter 2:12
[12] But these, like unreasoning
animals, born as creatures of
instinct to be captured and killed,
reviling where they have no
knowledge, will in the destruction of
those creatures also be destroyed,
12. 2 Peter 2:3
[3] and in their greed they will exploit
you with false words; their judgment
from long ago is not idle, and their
destruction is not asleep.
13. 2 Peter 2:15
[15] forsaking the right way, they have
gone astray, having followed the way
of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved
the wages of unrighteousness;
15. 2 Peter 2:10
[10] and especially those who
indulge the flesh in its corrupt
desires and despise authority.
Daring, self-willed, they do not
tremble when they revile
angelic majesties,
16. 2 Peter 2:13-14
[13] suffering wrong as the wages of
doing wrong. They count it a pleasure
to revel in the daytime. They are
stains and blemishes, reveling in their
deceptions, as they carouse with you,
[14] having eyes full of adultery that
never cease from sin, enticing
unstable souls, having a heart trained
in greed, accursed children;
18. 2 Peter 2:2-3
[2] Many will follow their sensuality,
and because of them the way of the
truth will be maligned; [3] and in
their greed they will exploit you
with false words; their judgment
from long ago is not idle, and
their destruction is not asleep.
19. 2 Peter 2:18-19
[18] For speaking out arrogant
words of vanity they entice by
fleshly desires, by sensuality,
those who barely escape from
the ones who live in error,
20. 2 Peter 2:18-19
[19] promising them freedom while
they themselves are slaves of
corruption; for by what a man is
overcome, by this he is enslaved.
22. 2 Peter 2:3
[3] and in their greed they will exploit
you with false words; their judgment
from long ago is not idle, and their
destruction is not asleep.
23. 2 Peter 2:9-10
[9] then the Lord knows how to rescue
the godly from temptation, and to
keep the unrighteous under
punishment for the day of judgment,
[10] and especially those who indulge
the flesh in its corrupt desires and
despise authority.
25. 2 Timothy 4:2-3
[2] preach the word; be ready in
season and out of season; reprove,
rebuke, exhort, with great
patience and instruction.
26. 2 Timothy 4:2-3
[3] For the time will come when
they will not endure sound doctrine;
but wanting to have their ears
tickled, they will accumulate for
themselves teachers in accordance
to their own desires,
31. 2 Peter 2:20-22
[20] For if, after they have escaped
the defilements of the world by the
knowledge of the Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ, they are again entangled
in them and are overcome, the
last state has become worse for
them than the first.
32. 2 Peter 2:20-22
[21] For it would be better for them
not to have known the way of
righteousness, than having known
it, to turn away from the holy
commandment handed on to them.
33. 2 Peter 2:20-22
[22] It has happened to them
according to the true proverb, “A
DOG RETURNS TO ITS OWN VOMIT,”
and, “A sow, after washing, returns
to wallowing in the mire.”
34. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
[3] For though we walk in the flesh,
we do not war according to the flesh,
[4] for the weapons of our warfare are
not of the flesh, but divinely powerful
for the destruction of fortresses.
35. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
[5] We are destroying speculations
and every lofty thing raised up
against the knowledge of God, and
we are taking every thought captive
to the obedience of Christ,
