For the past year and eight months I have been working as a full time bar tender at Aquarius Backpackers,
working my way through the ranks up to Head Bar, unfortunately my promotion to Assistant Manager which
was due to start on Monday 17th
June couldn’t be achieved because the bar has been closed down due to
the owners idealistic view of obtaining a PSA in the nearer future.
Previous Employment
10/11 – Present Full Time Bar tender – Aquarius Backpackers, Byron Bay, NSW
Working 40+ hours a week, opening the bar, and running four night shifts a week.
Working in a place like this obviously gives me the chance to meet new people as well as
meet local patrons on a regular basis.
07/11 – 10/11 Head Bar tender – Koala Adventure Island, South Molle Island, QLD
South Molle Island has a quiet resort where I was the only full time Barman working 6
nights a week. Roles include, opening, general bar work and cashing up at the end of the
night.
03/11 – 06/11 Farm Hand- Bundaberg, QLD
Ranging from picking pineapples, sweet potatoes and macadamia nuts, after six weeks
on one farm I was promoted to supervisor for the remainder of my time at the farm.
(Left because I worked enough to obtain my second year visa)
02/09 – 06/10 Red Bull – Lincoln, Lincolnshire, UK
Student Brand Manager – Gave me more of a chance to meet new people at university,
while dealing with what is effectively great customer service and large quantities of
stock. I have also helped the sales team with selling to local shops in the area and
increasing the number of POS. (Uni term-time job)

Barman – Promoted to team leader in 09/07, including responsibilities
such as delegating jobs, being in charge of float bags and cashing up at
the end of the night. (Left for better opportunities with Red Bull)

Barman – with responsibilities including running the bar and
looking after the pub when the managers were out. (Left because of uni)

Achievements
I successfully filmed a documentary in Jordan in the Middle East for College and Jordanian TV. I
have also completed both my bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh cycling awards, one including a
300km cycle, coast to coast across England, with everything I needed for the four days on the back
of my bike.
Travelling has taught me a lot about myself as well as showing me some amazing things along
the way.
Hobbies and Interests
I was involved in most team sports in school, but unfortunately when I left I didn’t pursue any of
them. I like to stay as active as possible and in a town like this, with the ocean opposite my
apartment, I enjoy getting in the surf whenever possible.
Also, having a media degree, I like to keep myself occupied with photography.
