Beginners' Chinese
SomeÂhow, throughÂout my life, my studyÂing ChiÂnese has always revolved around projects. It
includes departments of Accounting, Applied Economics, Business Statistics and Econometrics,
Finance, Health Economics and Management, Management Science and Information System,
Organization Management, and Strategic Management, and offers undergraduate concentrations in
accounting, finance, and marketing. In 1952, Peking University opened its first Journalism Studies
program, the first of its kind since the founding of the People's Republic of China. Students attend
classes Monday through Friday and take most courses within one department or school.
But this confusion arises from the comparison between English (and other Western languages) and
Mandarin Chinese. The Chinese equivalent of the polite French phrase ‘bon appétit' or its
English equivalent, ‘enjoy your meal' is 慢慢吃。or Mà n man chī, meaning literally
‘eat slowly'. Looking at Chinese names is a good way to highlight the way Chinese language and
culture are intertwined. For example, if your Chinese teacher is a Mrs Wang, you should call her by
her title Wang Lǎoshī, meaning Teacher Wang. Because Chinese uses characters rather than an
alphabet, names cannot be directly translated from English to Chinese.
Hutong school is simply an extrimely good place to study in, nice people around great staff and
heaps of free extra activities that make you feel they really care about you. Since I started to learn
Chinese in my home country, I knew I would go and visit China one day. Starting from the
beginning, I have to say, that this school was the only Chinese language school located in China that
fulfilled all my wishes and needs from the beginning: not only that I had the chance to gain
professional work experience, I also could decide whether I would like to take additional Chinese
classes.
Lin Anshan is professor of School of International Studies and director of the Institute of Afro-Asian
Studies at Peking publications include A History of Chinese Overseas in Africa (Beijing, 2000),
British Rule and Rural Protest in Southern Ghana (New York, Peter Lang, 2002), Studies on African
Nationalism (Beijing, 2004), Social History of Chinese Overseas in Africa: Selected Documents,
1800-2005 (Hong Kong, 2006), etc., and articles in academic journals both in Chinese and English.
On the weekends, there are performances (e. g., acrobatics show) and excursions (e. g., the Great
Wall, the Summer Palace, and the Beijing Art District). This school/society nexus gives the program
its unique participatory flavor, with language instruction continually related to its Beijing setting.
Students enroll in learn chinese china one of the five courses listed below (note the new 2015 course
offering). Taking a Chinese language course before the program increases a student's chances of
being accepted.
For example, take the character 游. You will learn that 游 is made up of 氵 (water), 方
(square/raft), 丿 (bend), 一 (one) and å (child); it's pronounced you2; it means to walk/to tour/to
roam/to travel” and it's used to create two high frequency words (旅游, which means trip”
and 游戏, which means game”) and a bunch of medium frequency words. Coursera is a digital
platform founded by two professors from the University of Stanford that offers an enormous amount
of courses in physics, medicine, information etc freely accessible online. The courses last from six to
ten weeks, with about two hours of video lessons - held by university professors - every week. At the
moment it's possible to listed to about 120 episodes, all offered for free.
Maybe your goal is just simple conversations for the heck of it. In that case you don't need to learn
characters. If you want to get any further, characters will help you when you want to go. And luckily
for you there are lots and lots of apps, websites and free materials you can get your hands on to help
you learn characters. Here is a good app for learning how to write Chinese Characters, its called
Skritter. Skritter allows you to write Japanese and Chinese characters with a mouse or a tablet and
get a score and suggestions on how to improve your handwriting.
Yeah, it's great the food is pretty good here basically Chinese in nature, although the locals like to
think it's in a league of its own, mostly dead cheap. A lot of people here pleased to meet people
trying to learn the language and make an effort. I mean, from a Chinese language perspective,
Taiwan seems to be a drawback due to the traditional characters. Their questionable relationship
with China (if you ever have dealings with the Chinese government in the future that might be a
problem) and other things are also definitely considerations. Almost all of the radicals and phonetic
components used in characters that have been simplified are also used in traditional.
Our professional and multilingual staff, both foreign and local, are always available in China to assist
you with pre-departure procedures from your home country through to the end of your study
program in China, including services like, visa, airport pick-up and drop-off, accommodations,
elective classes, insurance and medical membership, student counseling, language learning
enhancement tools, assistance with daily life setup, emergency matters, and much more.
Since 2005 I've been living in China and finally I know enough to read the books I'm interested in,
which are mostly political and biographical books banned on the mainland and published in
traditional characters. I can also now write Chinese well enough to publish articles in Hong Kong
magazines, although I usually show them to my Chinese friends first and incorporate some of their
suggestions.
It enables students to engage in simple business activities such as visiting a company, attending
meetings, ordering goods, making inquiries and claims, and negotiating insurance. This course
(Zhongji Hanzi ä¸çº§æ±‰å—) teaches Chinese characters, learning methods, ways to improve
compositions, pronunciation, and meaning of Chinese characters, and helps students develop more
complex vocabularies. Xitong Xue Hanzi (Zhongji Ben) 系统å¦æ±‰å—(ä¸çº§æœ¬) (Chinese
Characters: A Systematic Approach, Intermediate Volume). With focused, one-to-one classes your
Chinese language skills will soon improve!

and the relationship between Chinese and English literature.
