We were honoured to have the chance to Keynote speak at the 2015 Be The Change celebration in Monterrey Mexico. It was an AMAZING event and a truly wonderful audience. Thank you to Alfonso and Christopher and Sofia for the invite.
The following presentation was prepared for the McMaster Student Leadership Conference in 2014, The following description is from the Conference program;
"Bringing the concept of walking libraries to student leaders at McMaster will enhance participants’ ability to inspire those they interact with and will encourage a culture of limitless learning among student leaders in the McMaster community. You will have the opportunity to reflect on your skills and abilities and to engage in peer-to-peer learning. By having an opportunity to expand your student leader network, you will be able to promote further growth and development as an individual."

Every Monday morning I would share schoolwide goals with faculty, staff and creative learners. On Fridays I would do shout-outs for academic, cultural and artistic achievement. Both were done to help promote and support a positive learning culture.

On Friday 18th August we welcomed Primary Four pupils and all new pupils to their first upper school assembly. We also welcomed Miss Jennifer Ferguson and Miss Sophie Mitchell to the Primary Five team.
This year, we are revisiting our school vision and values so pupils were invited to think about what is most important to us in the Sciennes Family. We are extremely grateful to parent Emma Kirk (CEO User Vision and Convenor of the Parent Council Communications Group) who recently led an excellent session to help the whole staff revisit and reflect on our vision and values. Pupil Council leaders will soon be elected, one from each class P2-P7, who will then be able to join in on discussions and support the process.
We explored ways to respect everyone's right to be safe and right to learn at Sciennes. Primary Seven pupils helped explain what 'The Golden Rule' means. Showing respect universally unites us all: in the classroom, in the school and beyond, as global citizens. Brad Montague's moving film ' Smuggling Hope' was shown to help us all continue to believe that we all can make a difference by upholding our values.
Abstract
Previous generations of innumerable people created millions of small innovations to this language and this technology/media that I am using now. Centuries of innovations permit me to convey to you that, “we stand on the shoulders of our ancestors and communities.” More importantly, none of these predecessors worked alone, they all used what others before them had created and built upon it, continually collaborating with real and imagined communities. Furthermore, I contend that there is little difference between learning and creating: learning something new is creating new things and possibilities in your minds, in your worlds. That is why real learning is so exciting! (Not studying and memorizing things for tests that someone else is choosing for us.) It is creating new possibilities within your worlds. When teachers stimulate creating in students, they are stimulating learning and agency as well. In this Plenary-Workshop I will describe some interesting ways of helping students “own their learning” so they want to “create more of it” and how we all get addicted to “Wow!” and enjoy “expansive learning” in multiple environments in and out of school, using experiential learning. I will finally meld together the Social Neuroscience of Education (Cozolino, 2013), Love 2.0 (Fredrickson, 2013), and Brave (Sarah Bareilles, 2013), to help us create more Wow!s in our classrooms. I will demonstrate much of this by inviting you to sing and move with me as we create. Finally, I will demonstrate as well how improvisation can help students relax, enjoy themselves, and create and learn.
On Friday 17th August 2018 we welcomed Primary Four pupils and all new pupils to their first upper school assembly. We also welcomed Mrs Lucy Walker to the upper school, Mrs Jenny O'Hara to the Primary Five team, Mr David Mitchell to the Primary Six team and Miss Emily McAlpine to the Primary Seven team.
We looked at our values of Respect, Inclusion, Teamwork and Effort and explored ways to respect everyone's right to be safe and right to learn at Sciennes. We are very proud to have achieved a Gold Rights Respecting Schools award and explored how showing respect and following the Golden Rule universally unites us all: in the classroom, in the school and beyond, as global citizens.
We asked pupils to think about our review of House Points and Golden Time and invited their views and suggestions in updating our approaches.
A salute to the everyday heroes who are changing the world, one kid at a time: camp directors, school directors and teachers, kids event organizers, coaches, and mentors.

The case study discusses the potential of drone delivery and the challenges that need to be addressed before it becomes widespread.
Key takeaways:
Drone delivery is in its early stages: Amazon's trial in the UK demonstrates the potential for faster deliveries, but it's still limited by regulations and technology.
Regulations are a major hurdle: Safety concerns around drone collisions with airplanes and people have led to restrictions on flight height and location.
Other challenges exist: Who will use drone delivery the most? Is it cost-effective compared to traditional delivery trucks?
Discussion questions:
Managerial challenges: Integrating drones requires planning for new infrastructure, training staff, and navigating regulations. There are also marketing and recruitment considerations specific to this technology.
External forces vary by country: Regulations, consumer acceptance, and infrastructure all differ between countries.
Demographics matter: Younger generations might be more receptive to drone delivery, while older populations might have concerns.
Stakeholders for Amazon: Customers, regulators, aviation authorities, and competitors are all stakeholders. Regulators likely hold the greatest influence as they determine the feasibility of drone delivery.
