Information
   He is the founder of a organization called Apopo.
   His organization's main aim is to train rats to detect Tuberculosis by
    scent.
   His organisation started in 1997.
   The rats trained in his organisation can also detect land mines by
    scent.
   In 2010, his organisation attracted international attention and
    featured all over the word .
   His method are still being used all over Latin America and South
    East Asia.
Information
   Their current headquarters is located Tanzania.
   To solve pressing humanitarian challenges with detection rats
    technology is their vision.
   APOPO currently employs over 200 staff for our in-country
    operations, and has over 300 rats in various stages of breeding,
    training, or implementation.
   African giant pouched rats are important members of their team.
    APOPO is a social enterprise that researches, develops and
    disseminates detection rats technology for humanitarian purposes
History
 Early research into this technology began in Belgium, with initial
  financial support given from the Belgian Directorate for International
  Co-operation (DGIS) in 1997 to develop the concept.
 In 2000, APOPO moved its headquarters to Morogoro, Tanzania .
 In 2003, APOPO won the World Bank Development Marketplace
  Global Competition, which gave them seed funding to start research
  into applications of detection rats technology for Tuberculosis
  detection.
 In 2008, APOPO was utilized for the use of rats in the detection of
  Tuberculosis.
Impact of this venture
 APOPO’s HeroRATS diagnosed over 900 TB patients in Tanzania
  and prevented TB infection in 13,500 healthy people.
 It has given less developed countries a very effective way of
  detecting tuberculosis (TB).
 Not only that, these rats could also be used to detect landmines.


    It has given people a low tech and cost effective detection agent.
