Barium carbonate has various industrial uses. Coarser grades are used by the glass industry to act as a flux for silica when added to different types of glass like fiber glass, optical glass, and ceramics. Finer grades are used by the chemical industry. Barium oxide, produced from barium carbonate, increases the durability, weight, density and refractive index when integrated into glass. It also enables glass to absorb X-rays, making it useful for television screen manufacturing. Primary Information Services provides information on barium carbonate projects and can be contacted with any other questions.
