The Bahamas has a population of approximately 330,000 people across 700 islands, though only 40 are populated. Voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) services are provided through various programs like prenatal care, inpatient care, and home care services to promote privacy and decrease stigma. While acceptance of VCT is high among pregnant women, contacts, and prisoners, barriers still exist like stigma, waiting times, and a lack of dedicated VCT centers and counselors. Expanding access to VCT services in a private manner remains a challenge.
