We use our hands for almost everything we do in our day-to-
day life from turning off the morning clock to cooking,
and eating our breakfast, holding things etc. Hands are so
important and even a little injury to it may disrupts our
day-to-day work. During various work or undertakings our
hands get mangled, smashed, broken, twisted or chewed
making it difficult for us to eat, write or go to the
bathroom. Thus, we need to take care of our hands as
their good health is essential for the smooth running of
everyday life. DeQuervain’s Tendinitis is one of the various hand injuries suffered by people.
It is a painful inflammation of the tendons situated in the thumb and extended to the wrist.
The swollen tendons and their coverings rub against the slim passage causing pain at the base
of the thumb. It is very difficult to know the cause of DeQuervain’s Tendinitis , but it has
been considered that overuse, a direct blow to the thumb, continuous grasping and
conditions like arthritis may altogether cause the disease. Various works be in workplace or at
home may add up to the condition. Severe pain at the back of the thumb is one of the most
noticeable symptoms of this hand condition.
Continuous work, repetitive injury may be the reason of another hand injury called Carpal
Tunnel Syndrome. This condition may also be termed as a compression of the median nerve
while passing through the anatomical tunnel of the wrist. The compression of the nerve
causes pain and weakness in the fingers. Studies show that it is more common in women than
men, however, there is no evidence of the diseases being merely gender biased. Numbness in
the median nerve along with severe pain is one of the most common symptoms of Carpal
Tunnel Syndrome. Regular exercise and therapy can help you get rid of these hand injuries.
