Avila is located along the Rio Duero river valley in Spain. It has many fertile valleys and pine trees. The city is surrounded by giant rectangular walls that are 12 meters high and have 9 doors, taking 9 years to construct. Avila is known for its many churches and also has a convent dedicated to Saint Teresa constructed in 1636 where an annual celebration is held in her honor each October. The local cuisine includes medieval dishes as well as delicious fish and famous desserts.
