An automated measurement system called AMSA is proposed to digitize TST's inspection process. Currently, inspectors manually record measurements on paper, which are not analyzed to improve processes. AMSA would use wireless data loggers, transmitters, receivers and a main computer database to electronically capture inspection data in real-time. This would save on paper usage and data entry costs while enabling real-time monitoring and analysis of measurements to quickly address issues. The estimated investment cost is 408,320 Baht with a potential payback period of 3.17 years given projected annual cost savings of 129,000 Baht from reduced paper and labor. Appendices provide supplier contact information and a list of tools that could be connected to
2. Introduction
Nowadays, TST has inspection process to
measure dimension in each project. Inspector
check and record in paper sheet of QCS. Data
from their records is not used to improve
process. Moreover, there are problems
happening with parts continuously, we don’t
know and it takes long time to know and take
corrective action.
As a result, this project will be created to
develop our inspection process.
25. 1. Paper cost: average of 2015 and 2016 ≈ 210,000 Baht per year
(refer from slide 16)
- 10 % x 210,000 = 21,000 Baht per year (only cost of paper using
for QCS)
2. Cost of an operator to key information of measurement
- 9,000 x 12 = 108,000 Baht per year (base salary of operator 9,000 Baht
per month)
3. Overhead cost (unknown)
Total expenditure per year relating with measurement jobs
: 21,000 + 108,000 = 129,000 Baht
Investment of AMSA(software) and hardware
: 242,000 + 166,320 = 408,320 Baht
Break Even Point (B.E.P.)
Therefore, break even point(B.E.P.) may be 3.17 years (Maximum)
26. 1. Investment cost as shown in the present is maximum cost. We
can save to order just small quantity but operator need to take
AMSA tool out and set up all the time when using.
2. Maximum distance between receiver and transmitter is 20 m and
it will decrease when there is obstruction between them.
3. This project thinks about composite area only; not including
machining site. We can start implementing at composite site firstly.
4. The cost of software includes program modification into TST
format form and watchdog system which we may implement in the
future.
5. It is easy to get service because software and hardware supplier
are local.
6. The cost of AMSA DataLogger is 78,000 per 1 PC/Laptop/Tablet.
TST may implement only one set first.
