This thesis examines representations of space, sovereignty and national identity in British espionage fiction between 1945-1979, focusing on the works of Graham Greene, Ian Fleming and John le Carré. It aims to analyze how sovereign power shapes environments and social/cultural spaces in their novels, and how this relates to constructions of national identity. By mapping how sovereign power is applied and distributed across various spaces, the thesis will demonstrate the inextricable link between environmental control and control over British subjects. It will also explore the paradox that sovereignty can only be maintained through undermining the sovereignty of other nations. The thesis has six chapters analyzing these themes in the selected authors' works.

Microgrippers are used to grip and manipulate microscopic objects and can operate using thermal, piezoelectric, electrostatic or other actuation methods. Micromotors can be linear or rotary and operate using principles like variable reluctance. Microvalves are used to control fluid flow at the microscopic level and have advantages like not leaking or requiring lubrication.

Grid computing is a distributed computing approach that allows users to access networked computer systems and resources located across different areas. It provides computing resources like processors, storage, and applications to users regardless of where those resources are located, similar to how the electrical power grid provides electricity to users without knowledge of its source. Key benefits of grid computing include solving large-scale problems through parallel processing and optimally utilizing idle computing resources. Security, licensing, and performance monitoring present challenges to grid computing's adoption.

Carbon fiber and its features
