The Statue of Liberty stands at 305 feet and construction began in September 1875. Created by artist Frédéric A. Bartholdi, it symbolizes freedom, while Niki de Saint Phalle's work at UC San Diego, known for its oversized figures representing dualities, was the first commissioned piece for the Stuart Art Collection. Niki de Saint Phalle (1930-2002) is recognized for her unique artistic themes that blend good and evil, modern and primitive elements.
