 Pitch
Throughout our production of our short film we got feedback from audiences at
different stages in order to develop, change and therefore improve our final
product. The first stage of this collection of feedback was done by the use of a
formal pitch about ideas of the genre and plot of the film. During this pitch which
we presented to our media class we were able to find out that most of the students
felt that our ideas were well put together and that it would work perfectly but
some said that we should be more specific with our target audience which we
narrowed to audiences who are fans of horror/thriller gender aged between 16-24.
Unfortunately, as I arrived late to
the A2 media course I was unable
to participate with my group
members on the pitch. Therefore, I
discussed with my teacher and my
group members that I would create
a questionnaire in order to gather
extra feedback from our film.
In terms of our short film, our target
audience enjoyed the film and found it
really entertaining and mysterious. In a
more constructive critical way some of
the audiences wrote in the questionnaire
that they would have loved to see some
extra information or back story about
either the victim or the vigilante killer in
order to identify the severity of not only
the killer’s actions but the victim too.
 During our pitches and focus groups when editing our short film our
classmates were able to give us further suggestions. Some stated that
including a shot-reverse-shot between both characters in a stand off
would work well in order to create an anticlimactic moment before the
concluding climactic denouement. However, when we tried to
incorporate this into our storyline most felt that it didn’t work as they
would have expected so we deleted those scenes. An idea that we did
apply and worked well was that of the colour correction by presenting
our film darker than it was in order to fulfil the ominous and tenebrous
atmosphere that we wanted to create.
 In preparation of creating our ancillary products (film poster and film
review), we created another pitch in order to reveal our first ideas of
what we would do to our class. We created three variations of our film
poster in order to find out which would audiences appeal to. It seemed
that the first example was the most popular however, our group
decided that the second choice summarises the focus of our film more
that the first. This is because the one inside the container with the
board as background alludes to the vigilante concept which is central to
“One by One”. In addition to this we then blended in a picture of a
forest we took when researching and planning within the black hood of
our model in order to present all areas of relevance from our film.

Audience feedback

  • 2.  Pitch Throughout our production of our short film we got feedback from audiences at different stages in order to develop, change and therefore improve our final product. The first stage of this collection of feedback was done by the use of a formal pitch about ideas of the genre and plot of the film. During this pitch which we presented to our media class we were able to find out that most of the students felt that our ideas were well put together and that it would work perfectly but some said that we should be more specific with our target audience which we narrowed to audiences who are fans of horror/thriller gender aged between 16-24.
  • 3. Unfortunately, as I arrived late to the A2 media course I was unable to participate with my group members on the pitch. Therefore, I discussed with my teacher and my group members that I would create a questionnaire in order to gather extra feedback from our film.
  • 4. In terms of our short film, our target audience enjoyed the film and found it really entertaining and mysterious. In a more constructive critical way some of the audiences wrote in the questionnaire that they would have loved to see some extra information or back story about either the victim or the vigilante killer in order to identify the severity of not only the killer’s actions but the victim too.
  • 5.  During our pitches and focus groups when editing our short film our classmates were able to give us further suggestions. Some stated that including a shot-reverse-shot between both characters in a stand off would work well in order to create an anticlimactic moment before the concluding climactic denouement. However, when we tried to incorporate this into our storyline most felt that it didn’t work as they would have expected so we deleted those scenes. An idea that we did apply and worked well was that of the colour correction by presenting our film darker than it was in order to fulfil the ominous and tenebrous atmosphere that we wanted to create.
  • 6.  In preparation of creating our ancillary products (film poster and film review), we created another pitch in order to reveal our first ideas of what we would do to our class. We created three variations of our film poster in order to find out which would audiences appeal to. It seemed that the first example was the most popular however, our group decided that the second choice summarises the focus of our film more that the first. This is because the one inside the container with the board as background alludes to the vigilante concept which is central to “One by One”. In addition to this we then blended in a picture of a forest we took when researching and planning within the black hood of our model in order to present all areas of relevance from our film.
