TheGarrisonRegiment(駐屯兵団ChūtonHeidan)arethesoldiersthatprotect the townsand

defensivestance.Theyare the largestforceinthe militarydue to the small numberof
membersin the MilitaryPoliceBrigadeandthehighdeathrate of the SurveyCorps.

Erenfinishescadettraining,Hannesbecomesa Garrisonsquadleader.Heseeksto repaya

TheTitans(巨人 Kyojin)aretheprimaryantagonistsofthe series.Theyaregiant creatures
that usuallyresemblemalehumansinform,althoughlackingreproductiveorgans.[ch.4]
Theycan rangein heightfrom3 to 15meters (9.8–49.2ft). Despitetheirenormousstrength
and toughness,theirbodiesareunnaturallylightfortheirsize.Theirprimaryobjectiveisto
kill andeat humans,as they showno interest inattacking otheranimals.However,theydo
not requirefoodordrink.Theyhavehardskinand regenerativeabilities,andcanonlybe
killedbycausingadeep incisionatthe nape ofthe neck. Theyhavehighbodytemperatures,
causingthem to emit steam.[ch. 4]
Over the courseofthe series,someof the Titans,referredto asAbnormal (奇行種 Kikō-shū),
showsignsofintelligence.Therearehumans,suchas Eren, who canassume Titanformby
