There are four main managerial roles according to Fred Luthans: traditional management, communication, networking, and human resource management. Henry Mintzberg identified three managerial roles: decisional, interpersonal, and informational. Effectiveness refers to doing the right things, while efficiency means doing things right with consideration of effort, time, and process. When selecting a good manager, top manager levels are preferable as they establish clear criteria for qualifications including interviews and tests.
