Annie Leibovitz was born in 1949 in Connecticut. She moved frequently as a child due to her father's service in the Air Force. She became interested in art in high school and studied at the San Francisco Art Institute. In 1970, she began working as a photographer for Rolling Stone magazine. Some of her most famous photos include images of John Lennon and portraits for Vanity Fair magazine. She has published several books of her work and also does independent photography projects.

2. Biography
Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, on October 2, 1949, Leibovitz
is the third of six children.Her mother, Marilyn Edith, née Heit,
was a modern dance instructor, Her father, Samuel Leibovitz,
was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force. The family
moved frequently with her father's duty assignments, and she
took her first pictures when he was stationed in the Philippines
during the Vietnam War.
In high school, Annie became interested in various artistic
endeavours, and began to write and play music. She attended
the San Francisco Art Institute. For several years, she
continued to develop her photography skills while working
various jobs.

3. In 1970 she began working for the Rolling Stone magazine in San
Francisco. Her first assignment is Grace Slick. During the first out of town
assignment to New York city takes photo of John Lennon. The photo ends up
on the cover. In 1973 after her tour with the Rolling Stones, she becomes the
chief photographer for them.
1980
Just hours before John Lennon was shot dead Annie photographed Lennon
lying naked next to clothed wife Yoko Ono which runs on the cover on Rolling
Stone.
After a few years working with Rolling Stones she was asked by Bea Feltler to
contribute to the prototype of the revived Vanity Fair magazine. One year later
Annie began working there permanently.
After working for magazines Annie started working independently taking photos
for various clients such as the royal family in 1999.

I think the picture was taken in a studio, he is
not really on a boat. Also I think that the
background was heavily edited.
The background has a sort of animated look,
it would have been Photo-shopped in which is
why it looks animated.
I like this picture because the model Johnny
Depp has a far away pose. This makes me
want to watch the film pirates of the
Caribbean. Which is what the picture is trying
to promote. It also promotes the actors career
because once the audience see him in this

is of Taylor Swift in a modern version of
Rapunzel.
The hair on Taylor is longer. She the
longer hair has been photo-shopped on
then blended to match her hair colour.
The lighting looks dark but it gives the
whole picture a warm natural effect. The
lighting on the model gives off a
welcoming message to the audience.
I think that this was also taken in a studio.
The building that she is on looks like it is
not that high from the ground. Annie
positioned the camera to make it seem
like that she is higher off the ground. I like
this image because the model has a
faraway look like she is thinking about
something, it makes me think about
where she is and why is she there. I also
like the dress that she is wearing because
it is the the same one as the character
from "Tangled." the disney film. The
picture promotes Taylor Swifts singing
career.

background gives the illusion that

8. Comparison Between Annie
Leibovitz and perou.
Compared to Perou, Annie Leibovitz's work is more mature.
She uses natural or dark colours in her work, Her
backgrounds are usually complicated and hardly ever plain but
it doesn’t draw my eye away from the main subject in the
photo. Perou however likes to use bright bold colours, his work
has a more youthful modern look. He also does many shoots
for fashion magazines. Perou likes to use plain and simple yet
bright backgrounds to the extent that it sometimes draws the
eye away from the subject.
