This document discusses Staffordshire County Council's efforts to increase extra care housing. It began with 10 open extra care schemes in 2010 and has increased that number to 14 open schemes and 5 more under construction by 2013 through various procurement methods. The county council then partnered with SCAPE and Wilmott Dixon to bid for funding from the Care and Support Specialised Housing Fund, but missed out on funding. It has now identified 10 priority areas for extra care housing, set up frameworks with registered providers, and is ready to bid for new HCA funding anticipated in 2015. The document outlines the SCAPE framework process and how the partnership provides value through market knowledge, advice on viability, and identifying additional sites.

The goal of preservation strategies is to maintain collections in good condition and usable for long-term access through proper storage, environmental management, and emergency preparedness.
The document discusses the importance of emergency planning, training, and testing for the British Library. Lightning Talk #9: How UX and Data Storytelling Can Shape Policy by Mika Aldabaux singapore
How can we take UX and Data Storytelling out of the tech context and use them to change the way government behaves?
Showcasing the truth is the highest goal of data storytelling. Because the design of a chart can affect the interpretation of data in a major way, one must wield visual tools with care and deliberation. Using quantitative facts to evoke an emotional response is best achieved with the combination of UX and data storytelling.
This document summarizes a study of CEO succession events among the largest 100 U.S. corporations between 2005-2015. The study analyzed executives who were passed over for the CEO role ("succession losers") and their subsequent careers. It found that 74% of passed over executives left their companies, with 30% eventually becoming CEOs elsewhere. However, companies led by succession losers saw average stock price declines of 13% over 3 years, compared to gains for companies whose CEO selections remained unchanged. The findings suggest that boards generally identify the most qualified CEO candidates, though differences between internal and external hires complicate comparisons.

Dr. Gareth Davies: Transformational Projects – the Orkney story so farPMIUKChapter
Working and delivering projects in your own ‘backyard’ demands some of the highest standards of stewardship because you are entirely accountable and responsible for everything that you do and whatever happens. World class programme and project management are therefore essential tools in delivering consistent and insightful quality results.
The archipelago and nearby waters of Orkney as well as its neighbouring island groups and Scottish mainland communities have created a wealth of opportunities over the last 50 years or so for implementing programmes and project in some extremely challenging conditions and circumstances.
The combination of local expectations and working conditions have demanded the highest standards of project development and management. Even small tasks require care and consideration of issues that do not have the same potential impact elsewhere. Managing such risks and opportunities is therefore a collective skill and endeavour that the whole community needs to engage in.
In this presentation Gareth sets out some of these key driving forces in island-based developments and then gives some amazing case study examples of project activity that in underway and planned in and around the islands. These activities amount to a programme of work over the next 20-30 years which is likely to cost more than £150 billion and deliver between 20% and 50% of the UKs total clean energy requirements (electrons and molecules).
A huge prize at a local, national and even global level – which will all need to be facilitated and delivered by exemplary programme and project management – hopefully with much of it delivered locally!

• Devolved Pattern:
- 133 public bodies hold archives
- Glasgow City Archives to very small
- Those in private hands
3. ARCHIVAL ACCOUNT OF SCOTLAND (2000)
First Gathering of Data
• Some Uncomfortable Quotes:
- Accommodation for archives and the archive sector can generally be
described as appalling.
- Public Access: services are poor and more investment required.
- Preservation and Conservation: only 25% have carried out a
professional survey and backlog is on the increase – more finance is
needed to increase treatment capacity, creation of public sector posts
and promote better preservation practice and surrogacy programmes.
4. ARCHIVAL ACCOUNT OF SCOTLAND (2000)
Some Success
• New builds and refurbishments, e.g., Highland Regional Archives,
Scottish Borders Hub and Glasgow University Business Records Centre
• Creation of the Scottish Council on Archives
5. MAJOR PLAYERS 1
