Rudbarzi primary school in Latvia was first mentioned in 1828 and officially in 1849. In 1955, older students started at the Rudbarzi manor house while younger students remained at the original 1872 building. By 1968, all students were at the manor house, which now solely houses the primary school. The school has a memorial room honoring Oskars Kalpaks, a Latvian commander, with a plaque originally from the manor house balcony. Today the school has 101 students and teachers, teaching kindergarten through form 9 with various classrooms and facilities for different subjects and activities.
The school will celebrate its birthday next Friday the 30th with a fun day of activities for students and families. Students are asked to wear element colored t-shirts and PE shorts or pants for the event, which will include an art exhibition, bouncy castle, drum circle, games, a cake cutting ceremony, and a family picnic lunch. The day will end early at 1:30pm.
