How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

carga dos equipos ultrapórtátiles ABALAR.

1. O primeiro paso para utilizar o armario de carga é
conectar o cable de alimentación eléctrica á
alimentación eléctrica do centro.
2. Para acceder á zona de carga abrir as portas de carga
acuñadas frontais.
3. Conectar os portátiles no interior do armario de carga.
IMPORTANTE: Antes de conectar o cable de alimentación recoméndase
conectar o protector eléctrico, accionando o interruptor verde ata que se
mostre o piloto vermello

Ao acender o sistema por primeira vez é necesario realizar unha
configuración inicial:
1 Configurar o idioma
1. Prememos o botón de MENU e nos
desprazamos ata a opción GB, D, F, E, I, NL
cos botóns + e -, e aceptamos con OK.
2. Desprégase unha lista de idiomas, na que
temos que seleccionar o ESPAÑOL entre os
dispoñibles empregando os botóns + e -, e
de novo, confirmamos con OK.

1. En primeiro lugar, temos que indicar que o modo de
funcionamento é activo:
A. Prememos o botón de MENU e nos desprazamos ata OPCIÓNS cos
botóns + e -
B. Desprégase unha lista de opcións, na que temos que seleccionar
IMPULSO entre as dispoñibles empregando os botóns + e -, e de
novo, confirmamos con OK
C. Seleccionamos a opción ACTIVO, e confirmamos con OK (volve o
menú INICIO)

2. A continuación, configuramos o modo de funcionamento a
IMPULSO
A. Dende o menú de INICIO facemos o mesmo recorrido
B. Posicionámonos sobre a opción DURACIÓN con botóns + e – e
prememos OK
C. Por defecto, a duración do impulso defínese en minutos. Cambiamos
a configuración a segundos desprazándonos ata SEGUNDO, aquí
operamos cos botóns + e – ata que o marcador indique 10
segundos, e confirmamos con OK (volve ao menú anterior)

Configuración dos períodos de carga do
sistema
Dentro desta configuración teremos que programar a
hora á que se inicia o proceso de carga e o día ou
grupo de días aplicables. O programa admite 32
programacións distintas grazas a súa chave de
programación de memoria, que permite gardar as
configuracións.

Pasos a seguir para a súa configuración
1. Accedemos dentro de MENU ao menú Programa e
prememos OK.
2. Seleccionamos a opción CREAR e confirmamos con
OK.
3. A continuación, seleccionamos os días de carga
(dunha lista de opcións) LUN A DOM/LUN A
VEN/SAB E DOM/INDIVIDUAL.
4. Finalmente, definimos a hora de inicio da carga a
través dos botóns + e –, e aceptamos con OK (volve o
menú anterior).

A través desta programación o consumo
eléctrico na rede desactivase, permitindo
o aforro de enerxía.

Pasos a seguir para a configuración do período vacacional
1. Prememos o botón MENU, desprazámonos ata a opción AXUSTE cos
botóns + e - e confirmamos con OK (lévanos ao menú de axuste
horario).
2. Seleccionamos a opción VACACIONS, e prememos OK.
3. Seleccionamos as fechas do período vacacional. Para iso,
seleccionamos a opción DATA, e definiremos o DIA, MES e ANO cos
botóns + e -, e prememos OK.
4. Confirmamos que queremos que o armario permaneza inactivo
durante esas fechas desprazándonos ata a opción PASIVO, e
premendo OK (comprobar que se activa un marcador ao seu carón).
5. Devólvenos ao menú anterior, onde volvemos a seleccionar a opción
VACACIONS, e prememos OK para confirmar.

Configuración do tempo de carga
O tempo do proceso de carga establecido por defecto é de 4 horas. Trátase dun
temporizador que se encarga de acender as fontes de alimentación e de
desconectalas cando se completa o proceso de carga.
Pasos a seguir para a modificación do tempo de carga
1. Prememos o botón MODE para elixir o elemento que queremos
modificar. A través do botón SET movémonos polas diferentes
opcións ata RV, e confirmamos a opción premendo de novo
MODE.
2. A función RV comezará a pestanexar. Prememos tres veces máis
o botón MODE, comezará a pestanexar a “S” (segundos) da
pantalla.

Configuración do tempo de carga
O tempo do proceso de carga establecido por defecto é de 4 horas. Trátase dun
temporizador que se encarga de acender as fontes de alimentación e de
desconectalas cando se completa o proceso de carga.
Pasos a seguir para a modificación do tempo de carga

2. A través do botón SET seleccionamos a unidade temporal (S,
M ou H), e prememos MODE para aceptala.
3. A continuación, prememos MODE ata posicionarnos no primeiro
díxito do contador de tempo, utilizamos SET para escoller o
tempo de carga e prememos MODE.

Como acciono o sistema de seguridade?
Ante calquera anomalía que os sistemas
non detecten e corrixan automaticamente,
pode accionar o interruptor de
emerxencia vermello, para eliminar toda
a corrente eléctrica do sistema (o
interruptor quedará encravado para evitar
que se restableza o paso de corrente).
IMPORTANTE: O sistema de ventilación forzada porase en
funcionamento cando se achegue aos 30O. Manteña libre as tomas
de aire situadas no lateral exterior.

Como restablezo o sistema?
Unha vez solucionado o problema, xire suavemente o
interruptor vermello ata que faga clic e volva a súa posición
orixinal e desprace os interruptores da parte posterior ata a
posición amosada na ilustración (pilotos en cor vermella).
IMPORTANTE: O sistema de ventilación forzada porase en
funcionamento cando se achegue aos 30O. Manteña libre as tomas
de aire situadas no lateral exterior.

Que facer se o sistema non inicia a carga
Comprobar que o botón verde do protector do enchufe
está pulsado e que a ventá amosa un punto vermello.
Comprobar que na pantalla do programador non aparece o mensaxe SIN
TENS (xa que significaría que o sistema está desconectado).
Comprobar que o armario de carga está conectado á rede eléctrica.
Comprobar que o botón de parada de emerxencia non está activo
(seta arriba e protectores magnetotérmicos con piloto en vermello).
Comprobar que as proteccións contra curtocircuítos e contactos indirectos
non están activas.
Comprobar que o programador horario está correctamente programado.
Pulsar o botón de carga de equipos.

Que facer se non carga algún equipo?
Comprobar que o fusible de protección está en perfecto estado.
Que
facer se a carga non dura o necesario?
Comprobar que o temporizador de carga ten o retardo axustado as
necesidades requiridas.
MANTEMENTO: O equipamento electrónico do armario de
carga non deberá ser cambiado de situación, nin ser
manipulado por persoal non autorizado

Que facer se o armario se quenta demasiado?
Comprobar que as entradas e saídas de ventilación están libres.
Se o que precisa é axustar correctamente o termóstato, póñase en
contacto coa UAC.
IMPORTANTE: Ante calquera imprevisto, póñase en contacto
coa Unidade da Atención a Centros (UAC).
MANTEMENTO: O equipamento electrónico do armario de
carga non deberá ser cambiado de situación, nin ser
manipulado por persoal non autorizado
