ARIADNE
Ariadne is a Web magazine for information
professionals in Higher Education based in UK and
worldwide. Ariadne is provided by the University of
Bath Library to inform policymaker and practitioner
in Higher Education libraries and Associated sectors
of developments in the online environment. Since its
launch in January in 1996 by UKOLN, it has
attempted to keep the busy practitioner abreast of
current digital library initiatives as well as
technological developments further afield. It
concentrated originally on reporting in depth to the
information community at large on progress and
developments within the UK Electronic Libraries
Programme, covering matters such as information
service developments and information networking
issues worldwide.

The Paper:
• Dr. Jason Cooper and Gary
Brewerton’s article
describes the development
of a WebApp for mobile
devices to help improve the
access to library systems
at Loughborough
University.
The WebApp
Features:
 Opening hours
 My Loans
 My reading Lists
 My bookings
 My libarian
 Events
 Library news
Future Enhancements
 Renewing
 Loans Cancelling
 Loan requests
 Booking resources
 Cancelling booked resources
My Thoughts:
• This WebApp for Loughborough
University is the first of many
applications to become available.
I believe there will be many more
options, and searchable
qualification added to
applications to come. This is a
very good start to the
technologically advanced library.
