The document outlines three key differences between common law and civil law legal systems. Common law relies on case law and custom, while civil law follows the principle of legality based on Roman law. In common law, judges act as referees in trials dominated by lawyers, while civil law judges actively participate in evidence collection. Common law judges use inductive reasoning and can create equitable remedies, whereas civil law judges use deductive reasoning and are limited to remedies in legal codes.
This document discusses key principles of law, including definitions of law, the elements that make up a just law system, and sources of law.
It begins by defining law as rules established by authority to regulate behavior. It then analyzes the key elements that make up the definition, including that laws prescribe what must, may, and may not be done, and are recognized and enforced by the state.
The document also discusses the principles of a just law system, including equality, uniformity, certainty, generality, authority, and reasonableness. It explains the differences between real and personal rights, and natural and juristic persons.
Finally, it outlines the main sources of law as legislation, case law
The document discusses several common logical fallacies:
1. Ad hominem - Attacking the person making an argument instead of the argument itself.
2. False dichotomy - Presenting two alternative states as the only possibilities, when in fact more possibilities exist.
3. Begging the question - Assuming the conclusion is true without evidence, often by including the conclusion in the premises of the argument.
4. Appeal to authority - Citing an authority figure to support a claim without establishing that person as a true expert on the subject.
5. Slippery slope - Arguing that one event will inevitably lead to another without demonstrating the link between them.

This summary discusses two ekphrastic poems: "Loving That Land O' Lakes Girl" by Eric Gansworth and W. H. Auden's "Musée des Beaux Arts".
Gansworth's poem uses metaphor and simile to describe a Land O' Lakes butter girl advertisement, portraying her as an object of desire and fascination for many boys. The poem then discusses manipulating and transforming the cardboard advertisement in sexual ways.
Auden's poem "Musée des Beaux Arts" references Pieter Bruegel's painting The Kermess, discussing how the painting depicts ordinary and mundane events alongside human suffering and indifference.

Lifting the Corporate Veil. Power Point Presentationseri bangash
"Lifting the Corporate Veil" is a legal concept that refers to the judicial act of disregarding the separate legal personality of a corporation or limited liability company (LLC). Normally, a corporation is considered a legal entity separate from its shareholders or members, meaning that the personal assets of shareholders or members are protected from the liabilities of the corporation. However, there are certain situations where courts may decide to "pierce" or "lift" the corporate veil, holding shareholders or members personally liable for the debts or actions of the corporation.
Here are some common scenarios in which courts might lift the corporate veil:
Fraud or Illegality: If shareholders or members use the corporate structure to perpetrate fraud, evade legal obligations, or engage in illegal activities, courts may disregard the corporate entity and hold those individuals personally liable.
Undercapitalization: If a corporation is formed with insufficient capital to conduct its intended business and meet its foreseeable liabilities, and this lack of capitalization results in harm to creditors or other parties, courts may lift the corporate veil to hold shareholders or members liable.
Failure to Observe Corporate Formalities: Corporations and LLCs are required to observe certain formalities, such as holding regular meetings, maintaining separate financial records, and avoiding commingling of personal and corporate assets. If these formalities are not observed and the corporate structure is used as a mere façade, courts may disregard the corporate entity.
Alter Ego: If there is such a unity of interest and ownership between the corporation and its shareholders or members that the separate personalities of the corporation and the individuals no longer exist, courts may treat the corporation as the alter ego of its owners and hold them personally liable.
Group Enterprises: In some cases, where multiple corporations are closely related or form part of a single economic unit, courts may pierce the corporate veil to achieve equity, particularly if one corporation's actions harm creditors or other stakeholders and the corporate structure is being used to shield culpable parties from liability.
