2. What is a Job Application Letter
A job application letter, also referred as a cover letter,
should be sent or uploaded with your resume when
applying for jobs.
While your resume offers a history of your work
experience and an outline of your skills and
achievements, the job application letter you send to an
employer need to demonstrate rationale behind your
suitability. You must give clear reasons why you should
be favoured with an interview opportunity.
Writing this letter can seem like a challenging task.
4. Points to Ponder
List a specific job title if the application form or letter
asks for job preference.
Include education and work experience in
reverse chronological order (most recent should go
first).
Make the objective employer centric
Talk Results. Use Action Words
List several references, people who know your work
habits and personal traits well and who
are willing to recommend your candidature.
5. Filling Up Application Forms/Blank
– Most employment application forms are short
(from one to four pages) and ask similar
questions. Follow these guidelines:
Complete the form neatly.
Answer every question that applies to you.
Use your full name and your complete address.
6. Online Applications
Online Job Applications. Job applications for many companies are
available online. Certain companies have stopped paper applications
altogether.
Follow the Instructions. Instructions must be followed carefully (including
for paper applications). Check the company web site or the fine print on
the job application form for instructions, because the most important rule
to remember when completing a job application is to follow the
directions.
Review Before You Submit. Instructions must be read carefully before
applying for employment - before you click the Submit button or turn in
your application. The company will regard applications that are submitted
correctly and accurately favourably than those wherein from candidates
don't follow the instructions. In fact, some companies don’t accept
incomplete applications, so you'll be rejected before you even apply if you
don't submit your job application correctly.
Be Prepared to Take a Test – Many companies may require candidates to
take an initial screening test online.
