Smart4apex is a guild of Apex specialists. By uniting professionals, we provide a unique platform to share
knowledge and experience with each other. Our goal: To inspire by learning from each other. This mutual
inspiration and collaboration has resulted in a number of advanced software solutions, developed by our
members. We would like to highlight three of our latest products.

16. 1 Apex Bootstrap theme
Brothers Richard and Sergei Martens, both members of the smart4apex guild, joined forces this year to
develop a Twitter Bootstrap theme for Oracle Apex. This theme is available to the apex-community for
free. (www.apex-bootstrap.com) Today this theme has been downloaded over 1500 times. A clear sign
that the theme meets a need.
The development team constantly improves the theme and adds new features. Release 5 is
scheduled for 2015. This version will, again, have a couple of nice and surprising features.
Here some highlights we are currently working on:

Apex SmartPivot is a region Plug-in, that adds those reporting features to your application that, untill
now, made users export Apex report data to Excel.
You are a business user and want to analyze your data from your database inside your Apex application, just like
in Excel? The SmartPivot Plug-in enables users to create multi-dimensional pivot reports using drag-and-drop
Key features of Apex SmartPivot are:

To create a Pivot report, you just have to provide the query that gets the data. Columns and datatypes will
automatically be detected and presented. This Region Plug-In is compatible with APEX versions 4.2 or higher.
APEX SmartPivot is much richer and user-friendlier than the pivot functionality build into Interactive

18. 3 SQLWord - The light and much cheaper replacement
of BI Publisher
SQLWord is a reporting tool using Microsoft Word templates to generate Microsoft Word documents
merged with data from your Oracle database.
Made for Oracle Developers
By using the SQLWord developers can place several PL/SQL statements enclosed by <% %> scriptlets inside the
text of a Microsoft Word document. Microsoft Word documents with these scriptlets can be stored into the Oracle
database compiled to PL/SQL stored procedures using the SQLWord Developer application. When calling a
generated PL/SQL stored procedure SQLWord retrieves the data from the Oracle database and integrates the data
into the generated output Word .docx-document.
Key features of SQLWord are:
• Generation of .DOCX and .PDF documents
• Facilitates full support of SQL and PL/SQL language
• The layout of the Word template document is done by using the Microsoft Word editor
