The tiny kingdom of Nepal has more than
thirty trekking regions and more than 200
trekking routes. Among them, Everest, Anna-
purna, Langtang, Upper Mustang, Upper Dol-
po, Kanchanjungha, Makalu Barun, Manasu-
lu, Rara Lake, Narphu, Tsum Valley being the
main trekking regions of Nepal.
Climbing
The Northern part of Nepal is known as ‘the abode of snow’
meaning Himalaya in Sanskrit. Altogether Nepal contains
more than 1000 peaks including Holy Mountain while there
are many unknown peaks yet to be discovered. The govern-
ment of Nepal has authorized 326 peaks to be summited in-
cluding the great Mt Everest.
City Tour
Nepal is one of the richest countries in terms
of culture and heritage sites. Inside the
Kathmandu valley altogether seven UNESCO
world heritage sites; Pashupatinath, Buddhan-
ath, Swayambhu, and Changunarayn are the
pilgrimage site including three Durbar Squares;
Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar
Square and Patan Durbar Square.
Jungle Safari
Over 25% of Nepal is covered by forest, from tropical to
alpine. Preserved within are six conservation areas,
three wildlife reserves and ten national parks. Among them
the Royal Chitwan National Park and Bardia National Park
famous for jungle safari. Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve being
famous for bird watching and Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve
being the only hunting reserve in Nepal established in 1987.
Rafting
Nepal is the second richest country in the world in
terms of water resources. Nepal has more than
fifty of the largest rivers and more than 500 streams.
The government of Nepal permits rafting in the Tri-
shuli, Bhote Kosi, Kali Gandaki, Seti, Madi and Kar-
nali rivers.

What you will need Bhutan Tibet
Initial
• Day Pack
• Down jacket and sleeping bag
Upper Body (Head / Ears / Eyes)
• A baseball cap
• Warm wool or synthetic hat that cover your ears
• Balaclava - lightweight, thinner variety
• UV protection glacier glasses with side shields and a
hard-sided storage case. At high altitude atmosphere is
thinner and filters less UV radiation. Without the appro-
priate protection this can affect our eyes. For people who
wear prescription glasses, we encourage you to consult
your optometrist about prescription glacier glasses.
• Headlamp: A basic need when trekking higher up the
mountain where electricity is less abundant. Make sure
to bring extra lithium batteries. To prolong batteries keep
them warm by putting them in your sleeping bag. Batteries
can loose charge in very cold temperatures.
Hand
• A pair of liner synthetic/ woollen gloves for the mild days.
• A pair of heavy woollen gloves for morning and evening
time.
• A pair shell gloves or mitts Gore-Tex is preferred for keep-
ing hands dry.
Core Body
• Two cotton t-shirts.
• A synthetic t-shirt.
• Two long sleeve polyester tops, light colored shirts for sun-
ny days. V-neck zipper provides additional venting options
which are good for changing temperatures.
• A soft shell jacket, water resistant, with insulation, under-
arm ventilation zippers. The full front zipper is preferable
for ventilation.
• A medium to heavyweight expedition down parka with
hood.
• For women two synthetic sports bras, no cotton!
Lower Body - Legs
• Three pairs nylon hiking shorts, not cotton!
• Underwear, stay away from cotton
• Two pairs lightweight long underwear
• Pair soft shell pants - synthetic, full zip from top and bot-
tom preferably
• Two pair trekking pants, preferably that zip on/off at the
knees.
• Pair hard shell pants. Waterproof / breathable, Gore-Tex or
equivalent is best
• A pair cotton pants
• Especially for the women a full-length skirt (Optional)
Feet
• At least four pairs of liner socks, synthetic.
• Three pair heavyweight socks to be worn over liner socks
• A pair light weight socks, a good option for the lower /
warmer parts of the trek and also to wear in the teahouses/
lodges at the time of dinner.
• A pair of light to medium weight waterproof hiking/trekking
boots. Generally worn a size larger to allow for swelling
during treks.
• A pair light trekking shoes or sneakers to wear in and
about camps or lodges. Crocs are a good option as they
are easy to slip on and off at teahouses.
• Sandals are optional for the trek.
Miscellaneous, but Important
• Passport and extra passport photos (4 copies)
• Airline ticket(s)
• Visa (if required and acquired in advance)
• Immunization record: before travelling overseas visit your
local GP to ensure immunisations are up to date in relation
to the country you are visiting. Your doctor will have the list
of required vaccinations necessary.
• Durable wallet / pouch for travel documents, money and
passport
• Two water bottles one litre wide-mouth Nalgene and one
insulator. Stainless steel bottles can be a good option by
storing boiled water. you can use it for warmth in your
sleeping bag at night then by morning cool enough to
drink.
• Lip balm. At least SPF 30+, 2 sticks.
• Sunscreen. SPF 40 is recommended and should be rela-
tively new since it loses its effectiveness over time
• Toiletry kit. Be sure to include toilet paper stored in a
plastic bag, hand wipes, and liquid hand sanitizer, towel,
soap, etc
• A pair of adjustable trekking poles, this is great for the
downhill trek (optional)
• Favorite snack foods.
• Books, pen and notebook and other devices for relaxing
during the trek and rest time.
• For your records, camera, a DSLR, Go-Pro Camera.
• Hydration bladder with drinking tube and tube insulator.
• A urination bottle for men and a pee funnel for women, as
you might want to avoid that chilly late night trip.
