ONGC Knowledge Management portal is a SharePoint collaboration portal with sophisticated
knowledge management capabilities for the employees of ONGC. This initiative is to establish a
robust knowledge management ecosystem at the enterprise. The application allows user to post,
search and classify knowledge artifacts as a predominant business. The system also allows user
to form knowledge based communities to share their knowledge. A robust metrics system with
graphs and statistics will assist the top management to take key decisions based on the usage and
knowledge contribution of the portal. This project involves usage of OOTB web parts and features
of SharePoint along with customized web parts and custom workflows.

Project Description
This project involves implementation of a reporting tool which makes use of XBRL as its markup
language. The tool creates a plug-in into the Excel application, which is used for the purpose of
generating instance documents which are essentially XML files. These XML files are then filed
with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) as per recent mandate which has made it mandatory
for all companies/ organizations to submit their financial statements in XBRL format. This project
was initially started off as a POC, but eventually it came around to be a full fledged tool which
was sold to customers who included independent Chartered Accountants (CA) as well as
corporate customers.
