The facility thereafter uses these results to make adjustments and improve on their services to ensure the highest levels of health service provision are achieved. Mayo Clinic is known for their top notch doctors and reliable performance. They strive to make sure they are in the top 10 percent for not only performance, but quality measures as well. Mayo Clinic makes sure all patients are comfortable during their stay and well educated on their overall health. They ensure patient satisfaction by asking all patients about their stay and what could be improved. Quality measures are measured by outcomes and process measures, and also quality rankings (Marszalek-Gaucher & Coffey, 1993).
How Quality is measured
Mayo clinic offers a wide variety of health services. The divergent characteristic of these services calls for different approaches in the measurement of quality of their services. The health practitioners at each service delivery point in the clinic have orders to constantly record quality measures that help in the classification of services. Basically, the measurement of quality aspects in the clinic can be done by the health practitioners themselves or through a quality personnel who reviews the data on the services offered at each point.
Outcome measures
These are the quality measures that relate to the outcome of health services offered by the facility. It is very important for a health facility to be well informed of the outcome of its services. Every service offered or product issued by the facility will have a definite result with respect to these aspects. Every health facility calculates the success of its services by high readmission rates. Mayo clinic has had a greater record of patients coming back to consult and refer other individuals to the hospital. Other factors that relate to this particular quality measurement is the decrease in mortality rate as well as an increase in the safety of patients.
1. Mortality ratio
Mayo Clinic takes records of the number of patients that die in the hospital. These records are further classified with respect to the exact diseases from which the patients die from. A high mortality ratio always depicts that the clinic has not succeede.

However, these services must be exhaustive enough to display the performance of the health facility with respect to the services it offers. Therefore, each health institution has a number of criteria through which the performance in the provision of services can be established. The facility thereafter uses these results to make adjustments and improve on their services to ensure the highest levels of health service provision are achieved. Mayo Clinic is known for their top notch doctors and reliable performance. They strive to make sure they are in the top 10 percent for not only performance, but quality measures as well. Mayo Clinic makes sure all patients are comfortable during their stay and well educated on their overall health. They ensure patient satisfaction by asking all patients about their stay and what could be improved. Quality measures are measured by outcomes and process measures, and also quality rankings (Marszalek-Gaucher & Coffey, 1993).
How Quality is measured
Mayo clinic offers a wide variety of health services. The divergent characteristic of these services calls for different approaches in the measurement of quality of their services. The health practitioners at each service delivery point in the clinic have orders to constantly record quality measures that help in the classification of services. Basically, the measurement of quality aspects in the clinic can be done by the health practitioners themselves or through a quality personnel who reviews the data on the services offered at each point.
Outcome measures
These are the quality measures that relate to the outcome of health services offered by the facility. It is very important for a health facility to be well informed of the outcome of its services. Every service offered or product issued by the facility will have a definite result with respect to these aspects. Every health facility calculates the success of its services by high readmission rates. Mayo clinic has had a greater record of patients coming back to consult and refer other individuals to the hospital. Other factors that relate to this particular quality measurement is the decrease in mortality rate as well as an increase in the safety of patients.

Mayo Clinic takes records of the number of patients that die in the hospital. These records are further classified with respect to the exact diseases from which the patients die from. A high mortality ratio always depicts that the clinic has not succeede.
