Andijan Region is located in eastern Uzbekistan along the Fergana Valley. It borders Kyrgyzstan and other Uzbek regions. With a population of over 2.7 million, it is the most densely populated region in Uzbekistan. The capital and largest city is Andijan. The region has a continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. It is home to many educational and cultural institutions, including several universities and the birthplace of the poet-king Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur.
