This document presents the development of an embedded system designed to function as an EEG-based brain-computer interface (BCI) system. This paper presents an adaptive control algorithm called improved linear sinusoidal tracer (ILST) for a three-phase distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) to perform different functions like power factor correction, harmonics elimination, load balancing, and voltage regulation under linear and nonlinear loads. A prototype DSTATCOM is developed using a digital signal processor to test the control algorithm in real-time. The performance of the DSTATCOM with the proposed ILST control algorithm is found to be satisfactory under various load conditions.

A Markov chain mobility model is developed to describe a mobile terminal's movement in a 2D cellular structure. Classical renewal theory is used to analyze the expected number of paging area boundary crossings and cost of the distance-based location update method for two different call handling models. The analysis makes it possible to find the optimal distance threshold that minimizes the total cost of location management in a DBLMS.

Adaptive network coding for broadband wireless access networks
This document describes a study on adaptive network coding techniques for broadband wireless access networks. It analyzes random network coding (RNC) and systematic network coding (SNC) decoding probabilities and selects SNC for developing an adaptive scheme called Frame-by-frame Adaptive Systematic Network Coding (FASNC). - 1. AN EMBEDDED SYSTEM FOR AN EEG BASED BCI ABSTRACT: This paper presents the development of an embedded system designed to be used as an EEG based BCI system. The designed system is based on a set of microcontroller and Digital Signal Processor (DSP) in order to accomplish the processing of the signal, the storage and the communication required for the application. The system is completed with a Matlab script used to generate the classifier used in the DSP for identification of user's intentions, and a set of Windows programs used to show results of the classification and convert the acquired data to use on mathematical software, such as Matlab. Other use of the system is the integration of its communication channel in wheelchairs.
