Strengths and Weaknesses of Other Formats
Blog
• Owner controls content
• Blog format invites longer entries from
owner , restricts expression of others
to comments
Website
• Owner controls content
• Information is stable
• Website format informs the public
but does not involve the public
Facebook page
• Both owner and others contribute content
• Number of users increases exponentially
• Good information gets passed along
quickly
• Section marked “Posts by Others” seems
to invite advertisements
Laurie Marion LCC6313 Project 1
How An Atlanta Legacy Improves on Existing Formats
• Aesthetic emulates classical forms
• Large format photos emphasize grandeur of the buildings
• Central placement of the question “What does this building mean to you?”
accentuates the goal of creating social meaning

Future Enhancements
• Coding random display of photos uploaded by users on home page
• Coding display of home page photos that changes daily – a “featured
building of the day”
• Thumbnails at the bottom of the home page that when clicked take user to
that building’s page
• A featured “story of the day” on each individual building’s page randomly
displayed from the database
• Thumbnails of photos uploaded by users on each building’s individual page
• Cross-referencing stories and photos from users
• Fixing the links so that flickr images can be clicked to show full-size photos
• Fixing the navigation links that currently produce an error
