Jackie Kennedy Onassis was born in 1929 to a wealthy Catholic family in New York. She was educated at Vassar College and was named debutante of the year. In 1953 she married John F. Kennedy and they had two children. She served as First Lady from 1960 to 1963. After her husband's assassination in 1963, she raised her children alone and later married Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis. She died of cancer in 1994 and was remembered for her grace, courage, and independence during difficult times.
